This hotel has a good location for walking in the near by national park so its ideal for winter walking, not so good for a beach holiday in the summer as its up a hill 10 minutes walk away from the beach.
For a three star hotel the food was very good and the salads at dinner time were excellent. The rooms were basic but clean and of a good size. The entertainment was on most nights and was ok to good. Happy hour drinks prices were very good (nice after a long days walking). All the staff were very helpful especially the manager Antonio and the cook who go out of their way to be helpful. For the price great value.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the garden are the quietest.

We had a really good value deal with Thomson Holidays and booked within 1 week upon arrival. We emailed the hotel ahead of our arrival requesting a refurbished room with a pool view, and the hotel obliged with the request - thanks trip advisor members!
Our Room (211) basic, but clean enough. We don't spend all our holiday in the room as we like to go out during the day - some people might find the room a little bit small, but its ok. The bath/shower is very powerful and there was daily maid service. The balcony was an average size and attracted the sun most of the afternoon with a view of the pool. The room walls are quite thin and noises can be heard. We were awoken at 2am by some lads who were staying at the hotel which was quite annoying. The majority of hotel guests were well behaved, but all you need it one and that's it. The bed was hard and we had to request another pillow, which made sleeping a lot better.
Meals - Breakfasts were ok, I would have preferred more fresh fruit than was available. You could have cereals, cooked breakfast, yoghurts, cakes/bread so plenty of choice, although there was a microwave to warm up food. Evening meals again was varied with fish dishes and a choice of meat dishes. Its good value, not brilliant food, but you could have a lot worse. Some of the staff were more friendly than others, but were ok in general.
Location - It is situated on the top of Nerja, so if you wanted to walk to the beaches or the balcon de Europe it was a nice walk downhill and obviously quite an uphill walk. It would not suit anyone who had walking difficulties.
Nerja is an interesting town with lots of restaurants, a few bars, shops and a lot of walks and activities. It has kept its Spanish charm, and the people were friendly and spoke a lot of English. The weather for the beginning of March was good. The temperatures would rise to a pleasant 17/18 degrees celcius, although there was a cool wind which was unusual. So, you could be wearing shorts/t shirt or a long sleeved shirt/coat - depending on the wind.
Activities - we walked into an Irish Bar in the Plaza Tutti Fruiti and they organise a walk to the village of Frigiliana every weds morning at 930 am. This was an enjoyable experience with the landlord Adrian and a few of the regulars and was a free walk! It enabled us to get a bearing of where we were and enjoyed a lovely walk up into the mountains, and we caught the bus back to Nerja for only one euro. We also went on an organised tour of Frigiliana with John Keo Walking Tours. This again was an easy walk in the old town and John was excellent in explaining the history of this charming village. Next time we would go on a hike with John to the hidden village, and Im sure the trip would be as good, if not better than the Frigiliana tour. The Nerja caves & viaduct are also within walking distance of the Club Nerja Hotel and there is a good supermarket directly opposite.
My wife & I ate out on a few occasions for lunch and two evening meals, just to experience a bit of variety away from the hotel. There are plenty of places to chose from.
Overall we would definitely return to Nerja, Im not sure if we would return to the Nerja Club Hotel as we like to stay in different hotels, however we would not put anyone off from staying here, and it is a very good value hotel to stay. Another plus point for me was the free wifi facility. It was a good connection, and I know several hotels in the area charge 25€ a week, so well done Club Nerja!

I've just returned home after spending two weeks walking around the hills in Nerja.
The Nerja Club Hotel is the place to stay because just 25 minutes from the hotel you can be in the foothills of the world famous Route 66.
This route, about 3hours at a fair pace, takes you to a large picnic area, used by Spanish families at the weekends, from where access to the larger hills can be calculated.
After a 5 or 6 hour walk(minimum) the plentiful supply of a large selection of foods is just what the doctor ordered.
There are other less demanding walks in the area.
I've stayed at the Nerja Club a few times, with members of the Wirral RA, and have never, ever been disappointed.

Room Tip: Friends say that the sunrise facing rooms are excellent.

We wanted a clean, comfortable and quiet hotel for a weeks walking and this hotel was perfect. Antonio the manager was a mine of information on local walking, the restaurant was open until 9 which meant plenty of time for Tapas in the town. Happy hour 6-7pm perfect. Food was ok, lots of choice but for the amount we paid we could not complain.
Thank you

We arrived about nine in the evening and were pleased to discover that the evening meal was still being served. although our room was small, we enjoyed our stay here. The staff were always friendly and helpful, especially the chef who cooked wonderful steaks, squid and other dishes. Not too near the seafront, but handy for the bus station and walks to Maro / mountains (either along the road or the paths near the sugar mill).

Prices for drinks in the restaurant were reasonable and like most hotels in spain, you can always save an unfinished bottle of wine to the next evening.

Room Tip: try and avoid a room directly above the bar (although entertainment usually finished by 11pm)

I enjoyed a holiday here March 2013 . I travel alone and found this hotel perfect for me apart from the noise at night from the entertainment . My room was above it .
The food was good, the staff very nice - very relaxing.
On my return I went on the Thomson online site as I wanted to go back later in the year. I searched every week ahead for a year. To no avail . No holidays at all for singles. I expect to pay a supplement but now despite averaging 4/5 holidays a year via the Thomson site it would appear for this hotel and many others I am just not welcome as a lone traveller. Mind you as the room was so small it much be a real squeeze for two.
