The house is as described - traditional Andalusian, and in such a beautiful location. Very quiet throughout the day and night too. It is also described as a 'Casa Rural Basica' so don't expect luxury, having said that the beds were very comfortable and the rest of the accommodation in the main house was adequate. It would have been nice to have more bedding as it was still quite cold at nights, there was plenty of bed linen but another duvet or some more blankets would have helped, a bag of firewood would have been welcome too, especially as if more than a couple of heaters were used at the same time the fuse kept tripping, it didn't blow lightbulbs and there were plenty of spare bulbs provided if that had have happened. This would not be an issue later in the year when it's warmer and I imagine in the high summer the house stays comfortably cool.
The second house could have been a little more homely or comfortable, we were a group of 4 single adults so needed all the bedrooms and ended up using the sitting room in the main house as a bedroom too. The sitting room in the smaller house would not really suffice as a bedroom or a sitting room in the cooler months.
The kitchen was adequate, a few minor annoyances such as no sharp knives and the toaster not working properly but generally adequately equipped and enough for a good-sized group of people.
There is plenty of space from the roof terrace, to the patios and gardens surrounding the houses and you can follow the sun around the property, the sunsets from the patio and the roof terrace were quite spectacular. We were there in February so the swimming pool was not in use but again I imagine it would be most welcome in the summer months.
The track down from the gate to the house is very uneven and would pose a challenge for anyone with mobility issues, as would the house as it is accessed by steps down the side, I would recommend a 4x4 to get up and down the track, a 4x4 would also be good for the smaller roads down to the beaches and some of the roads into the mountains too though the main roads were very generally well maintained and clearly signed.
There is a track down to the beach from the gardens which passes in front of the property below La Fuenta and in February the beach was quiet although the chiringuita was open for drinks and food throughout the day and if you order in advance, throughout the evening too.
All said we had a great time and personally I loved the house. Also thank you for the 'welcome gift' of a bottle of Rioja and a jar of olives, much appreciated.
