“Nice hotel, friendly staff, great location”

Really liked this hotel. Our room 106 was light and airy and as long as you kept the windows closed at night the noise was not obstructive (keeping them closed also useful for keeping the room cool - aircon worked best that way). Breakfast room has moved to the ground floor and lovely and light and airy (some earlier reviews indicated it was in basement and dark but it's moved). Only used the pool once and no problems (at 11 am) getting a lounger - there were 13 and only 4 people on them. There are also chairs and tables if the lounging area is full, and the view to the sea is great. Room terraces are Juliet balconies - you can just about step on them but great view of all the goings on. Close to restaurants shops, Balcon, and two beaches. Only downside was steps into hotel (with rail only on one side) - not ideal if you have mobility issues or a buggy. Also there is free wifi (ask for the access code) to use in your room but its very sporadic (I think that's more a Nerja thing than just for this hotel!!).

Room Tip: You can ask for a room with a shower-only if you need one, you can also ask front or back (street fa...

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Plaza Cavana. It's right in the main square, near tons of restaurants and only a few minutes' walk from the beach.

The hotel is very nice and well-presented inside - no dodgy surprises.

Our room was very pleasant. We had a terrace so were able to sunbathe on loungers after returning from the beach or pool The pool was nice but very small and there aren't many loungers.

We didn't pay upfront for breakfast but after a few days of going out we ended up just getting the breakfast buffet in the hotel because you get so much more for your money. The selection is good, with proper bread, serrano ham, various types of melon, croissants, eggs, cereal and pretty much everything you could want for breakfast.

There is noise from the square at night but this doesn't come through if you keep the windows/doors closed at night, which we did as the air conditioning was sufficient.

The room was kept pretty clean but our water glasses weren't replaced once the whole week - even when we left them in the basin as a big hint that we wanted them changed. The cleaner just took them out and put them next to the basin.

Nerja is a touristy place, not romantic in any way, but it has retained a Spanish feel, unlike the rest of the Costa del Sol with its concrete hotels. There were a lot of Spanish holidaymakers (as well as British) and plenty of Spanish restaurants, rather than the dreadful English caffs and Irish pubs.

Don't bother paying for parking - there is a large, free outdoor carpark 5-10 minutes walk inland from the hotel where you can leave your car for your whole stay (it will get very dusty though!)

Room Tip: Get a room with a terrace.

Stayed in Plaza Cavana for one night during our ten days in Spain and loved it. Best hotel we stayed in on this holiday, by a mile. Really lovely girl on reception duty when we arrived, helpful and welcoming. Room 111 was great, spacious, with a big bathroom and great air conditioning. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from and the same helpful girl from reception the day before to welcome us with a smile. Location is unbeatable, minutes from Balcon de Europa and surrounded by plenty great cafes and restaurants. The roof pool is a real treat with quite a few loungers available and a handy snack bar. Very kind lady in reception on the evening of our stay who helped with bus timetables etc. All in all if you are visiting Nerja my advice is to stay at Plaza Cavana, relax and enjoy this great town.
Ps if this review looks familiar to anyone who has read reviews for Hotel Mena Plaza in Nerja it is because I accidentally posted it to the wrong hotel. I have asked Trip Advisor to remove it. Maybe I will get to Mena Plaza next time!

Really good stay at this hotel, like other reviewers have said, the location is really, really good, literally 2 minutes from the beach and the balcon. Breakfast was very good with an excellent selection daily, always very clean and the staff are really friendly. If you are a light sleeper do not stay at the front of the hotel, its not quite as bad as some of the people have made out but it is a busy square and when the bars are putting out the tables and chairs and putting them away it can be noisy. This however would not be enough to not make me return here. Also must mention the pool area, great views of the sea and really nice area, small but excellent.

Room Tip: At the back/internal window for people who like the quiet

Its a very solid 3 star hotel. Rooms are reasonable and what you would expect for the price, They are clean and well maintained. It is right in the centre of town so you have to expect some noise. After reading other reviews we requested a 2 rooms away from the plaza and it was fairly quiet - 114 , 113. The pool is small but at least they have one - have to get there early to get a spot. Towels are supplied for the pool (have to pay a deposit) but you are not permitted to take them to the beach which isn't that practical. An extra 2 euros a day to get a key for the safe in the room is a bit stingy I think. Loads of cafes just outside the door and only a few hundred metres from the beach. All walks to the beach from a hotel almost without exception no matter where you stay in Nerja involve a walk downhill (and up on the way back) - this one isn't too bad. I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: away from the plaza - its just too noisy (at all hours)

Just arrived home after a twelve night stay in a triple room . I was travelling with my husband and two children aged 9 and 11months .
The room was spotless and very spacious . Air conditioning was quiet and easy to use . The cot we requested was set up in the room when we arrived . The cot was covered in baby sheets and a baby pillow and had a large thick comfortable mattress .
The room was really quiet at night , we all slept really well .
The breakfast was very tasty and plenty to choose from , great value at 6€per head .
The room was cleaned every day . The cleaners even arranged the babies teddy bears which was a lovely personal touch .
The only negative we had was that there was steps everywhere in the hotel which was slightly awkward with the buggy but not a massive problem for us . We managed fine .
Great location , could not be in a better location . The pool is small but clean and refreshing . The view from the roof is amazing and it's a lovely place to relax and sun bathe .

Room Tip: We stayed in room 115 , it was at the back of the hotel , very quiet at night as it does not look ou...

So many positives about this hotel.
Really helpful staff. Very clean. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Central location, right in the hub of things and close to beaches. Public rooms are very nice . You can sit out at the back of the hotel for breakfast.
The rooftop pool area is great, but only has thirteen sunloungers. The area is locked until 10 am so that foils the sunlounger early morning towel claimers. The pool only accommodates twelve people. It's a great place to sunbathe . If you can't get a sunlounger there are plenty of chairs around the snack bar area to sit up on.
We had room 102 which is on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the plaza. Well decorated, nice bathroom and good shower. Daily maid service and clean towels. Free air conditioning.
The only negative is a big one if you have a room at the front. It's too noisy to sleep and I'm a fairly heavy sleeper.
Whilst the bars and restaurants below closed by 2 am we suffered from people going through the plaza up to 5 am singing and shouting, plus some noisy guests shouting down the hotel corridor. About 6 am the street cleaners start making a noise.
Lots of catch up sleeping on sunlounger required.
World Cup quarter finals added to the noise. I think that it was also the start of Spanish holidays, which made Nerja very busy and noisier.
It may be better outside the peak season and with a room at the back of the hotel, but I don't think that we will risk another visit.

Room Tip: Try a room at the back of the hotel or take sleeping pills.
