“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 4 November 2012

My wife and I stayed at this Hotel on an all inclusive basis for five nights from 28th of October 2012. The room we had was on the ground floor near the pool. It was a lovely spacious room with two large single beds pushed together. A three seat sofa opposite a large flat screen TV with BBC 1, BBC2, ITV 1,2 and 4 was near the patio doors at the far end of the room. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of hot water very good water pressure in the bath/shower. Housekeeping visited every day keeping the room spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel.
The restaurant is very pleasant. The food is of high quality with plenty of choice. The bar is very comfortable with adequate entertainment. The bar staff are very friendly as are all the hotel staff.
There is a small Health Spa which will cost you €12 but well worth a visit.
The pool area is superb with a bar and plenty of sun beds and seating. The main pool is large and clean with a children’s pool off to one side. The garden also contain plenty of sun beds and it stretches right on to the beach, making the entire pool area and gardens safe for children as there are no roads to cross.
The location of the hotel is a 25 minute walk from Nerja town via a beach track leading to a paved beach side promenade, so if you have mobility issues and like to be in a resort centre think again. The same goes for if you want a party style holiday.
The other guests were a mixture of retired British people and French, Spanish and German families with a smattering of others mixed in. They were all very pleasant and friendly. We were staying all inclusive at a very reasonable price. However, we did notice it was quite expensive for coffee, drinks and food for guests staying on other board basis.
To summarize, if you are looking for a club 18-30 holiday do not go here. If you want a chilled out couples or family all inclusive holiday directly on the beach in a lovely hotel, then this would be a good choice.

Stayed here last week - October half term. Weather a bit changeable but when the sun shone it was lovely. Best thing about the hotel is the proximity to the beach - kids loved playing in the sea, making sand castles etc. My favourite bit of the day was taking my coffee down to the beach first thing in the morning and relaxing whilst the children played.

Hotel a bit dated but clean and had most things you needed. Free WiFi in the bar and reception but didn't work so well in the apartment. 2 bed apartment was perfect for family of 4 with a few British TV channels. Staff polite and helpful. No complaints about the service.

Food - my overall opinion was they tried to please too many different tastes and consequently lost out on quality in some areas. Some of the Spanish dishes were fantastic eg paella, bean and chorizo stew, calamari and they might do better to concentrate on what they do best - that said the children enjoyed chips and pizza which were available most nights and there was always a good amount of fresh fruit and different breads. The house Red isn't too bad if you are on all inclusive. Breakfasts were plentiful and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Its not a fine dining experience but not as bad as some reviewers have suggested!

Entertainment - again a bit old fashioned. Possibly suited the Saga clients more than families. Fun Halloween activities and good magician. Recommend visit to caves and a beer on the terrace on the Balcon de Europe.

We would visit again!

I stayed at this hotel for one night on a business trip.
The room was clean, well furnished. Small kitchenette with microwave, kettle, hob etc
Lounge and bedroom.
Small balcony and sea view.
Unable to comment on the restaurant as I did not eat in the restaurant.
The only negative would be that I could not check in until after 2pm but when I finally got a room. they said I'd been upgraded.
Located a good 30 mins walk from the town, but situated on the beach front.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 314 which had a sea view.

This is an attractive hotel right on the beach about a mile from Nerja. It is in a quiet location but a local bus runs from outside the hotel to the centre of Nerja during the day. However the walk to Nerja is a pleasant stroll along the road or along the beach. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. I understand that this is a family run hotel which is unusual for a hotel of this size. The bedrooms/suites are comfortable if not luxurious and I found the pool view rooms have the best outlook.
The cuisine in the restaurant is quite good with plenty of choice. However I found that the seating area was not as attractive as it could have been but this did not spoil my enjoyment. The lounge is attractive but gets quite busy in the evenings especially when there is entertainment.
The pool area is nicely layed out with plenty of sun beds and there is a nice terrace where you can have a drink or just read.
One downside is that the hotel is very popular with Spanish people at weekends and during the four weeks that I stayed at the Marinas de Nerja, on two weekends it seemed that all hell had been let loose with children running wild and parents not in control. However overall I felt very comfortable and relaxed at this hotel and would certainly return.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool have the best outlook

It's very easy to be subjective about resort hotels, so hopefully a few facts might help. This aparthotel can hold 450 clients, so of course meal times will be busy! You can go from self-catering to all inclusive, with all stops in between. Breakfast, paid separately, costs €9, lunch €12, and dinner €15. Bottles of wine start around €9, though at the time of our visit, an excellent Penedes rosado was on special at €6! The choice at meal times is enormous, with several items being cooked in front of you. I would, though, criticise the offering of tinned mushrooms and reconstituted juice with breakfast. For 4*, they could do better. No, it's not Michelin, but you will not go hungry!
Dinner finished at 9.30pm, remarkably early for Spain, and this was a problem as our arrival was at 9.30pm, and the hotel could only suggest going up the road to a petrol station to see what the shop had to offer! We ate at the hotel 5 times, and elsewhere 5 times. The 'elsewhere' included the superb Restaurant 'First', not 50 metres from the hotel, the the very decent 'Paraiso de Nerja', about 150 metres away. The 'First' was a very high standard and reasonably priced.
Any minor niggles? The lovely pool area seems to attract a lot of flies (not mosquitos), and they seemed to be attracted to me. Our 1-bedroom apartment was fine, but not luxurious. Conveniently, as we had a few lousy, rainy days, the wide-screen TV has BBC1/2, and ITV 1/2/4. The kitchenette was clearly not meant to be used - a sink, but no draining board for dishes (or tea towel and washing up liquid for that matter), and the glasses and crockery were kept at a height of over 7 ft - no good for the vertically challenged. Utensils were extremely basic, and beware the bathroom toiletries! These are chinese, and I have come across them before - poor quality!
Staff were all very pleasant, but the hotel could perhaps do with another computer. Free wi-fi is available in the lobby, but unless you go in the middle of the night, the computer was always occupied.
Let's not take anything away from the place. We enjoyed it, put on weight, and even got a bit of tan when the sun did shine! We'd go back, but will take our own shampoo!

There is nothing I could find fault with at this hotel. I was a little anxious about my holiday after reading the poor reviews. The staff are very friendly and speak perfectly good English and appear to be fluent in many other languages too. The food was fantastic. Something different every time...veal, tuna grilled chicken, etc. The dining area isn't cramped at all but be prepared to share your table with other guests. If you like socialising this is perfect way of getting to know other guests. The hotel was very clean and the rooms spacious. We stayed in 416 which overlooked the sea from oneside and the town and the mountains the otherside. In the evenings we were fortunate to have a full view of the sunset. The hotel is directly on the beach which is very clean and pretty with plenty of sunloungers on a grass verge and a play area for the children. The pool was cold but no colder than any other unheated outdoor pool. The pool bar opens mid morning so you can get to enjoy a full day by the pool. The town of Nerja is only a 20 minute walk alomng the beach and is worth visiting to see the balcon de europa. The main bar area is a lovely place to wind down in the eveing before the evening entertainment starts. There is a childrens club so the adults can relax for a couple of hours each day. There is always something for the adults too...aquagym, yoga, spanish lessons, shuffleboard darts...the list is endless. Please don't read too much into negative reviews. I am very fussy about where I like to stay and this place was fantastic!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in 416....this gave us the view of the sea, the town and the mountains. Perfect for watchi...

We have just returned from this hotel in Nerja, and a wonderful holiday. This has been our fourth consecutive year to holiday there. The hotel is really nice with beautiful views from most rooms. It is located right on the beach with a grass lounging area leading to the sand. Rooms are nice and comfortable. We only made use of the restaurant for breakfast. This consisted of a wide range of cooked and cold food and plenty of fruit. It is approx 30Min walk on the beach to the town. Some of the way is not brilliant, but when you get used to it, it is quite nice. The walk is good for keeping in shape whilst enjoying the local bars and restaurants. The town itself is very beautiful with a great buzzing piazza. It is strongly recommended.
