I've had better for the same price. It's really a 2 star accomodation (don't expect more, although some reviewers think so). Breakfast is a bit poor, prepacked croissants, bad coffee and the cold cuts are not cooled. Location was good, city centre but still close to the beaches.

My now husband and I, were looking for a short 5 night get away after our wedding, but before our 'proper honeymoon' next year. As other reviews have mentioned, we wouldnt usually look at a 2* hotel but the feedback seemed so positive we decided to give it a go. What a fantastic decision.

the hotel itself is one of the nicest i have stayed in, in Spain, Greece and Turkey. Clean, really nicely decorated and very polite and helpful staff. Yes, the pool is tiny, but who cares when there is a giant ocean approximately 4mins walk away?!? having said that, we did take a dip in the pool and it was lovely. Most evenings we would take our books and a drink up to the terrace and just chill out on the sun loungers before getting ready to go out for dinner.

The room itself was clean, comfy and had air con (which was great as temperatures were pretty high). we also had wifi in our room which was great for planning little last minute trips around the area. Our room over looked the lovely stately square on one side and the little entrance alley in front. After our wedding, we were both pretty tired. The room was very quiet and we got plenty of sleep in. The only early start was when we left the bathroom window open by mistake and the noise of the bustling little square woke us! our fault. There was a little fridge in the room and we noticed that you can actually order beer or wine if you visit the reception. The prices were cheaper than all the surrounding bars but we found a little super market and purchase some San Miguel for our lazy late afternoons on the terrace.

the hotel is just in the most perfect position. close to the beach (as with most places i have visited in the Med, there are always some steps!) and surrounded by restaurants. (try Scarlettas. its all inside seating from what we saw, but delicious food at a very reasonable price and fantastic service). The car park is about a 15min walk (once you figure it out) but its pleasant walking through all the little white buildings set back from the main strips.

All in all we are so pleased with the absolute bargain break that we had. Early May, the sun was shinning and the town wasn't too over crowded. I have recommend the hotel to all of my family and friends in England. we will definitely be back. It rounded off a very special week for my husband and I.

First - Nerja is wonderful! A beautiful little city which has made tremendous efforts to be inviting and fun. Beaches are great, many with taverns right on the beach, but also lots of other stuff to do, like guided hikes into the mountains right behind the city. As for the hotel - the only reason it has 2 stars is because of the strict rating system in place here. It was clean, friendly, large rooms, decent European style breakfast included in price, and a large sun deck on the roof. Location is fantastic - we walked down from the bus station having taken buses from Granada and then on to Malaga. The city seemed deserted (we arrived during Siesta) but after we checked in, we went to the back of hotel which is right on the Balcony of Europe and full of other tourists and locals strolling about. Just relaxing, pretty, and fun overall. Tons of good restaurants in Nerja, too.

Room Tip: Our room on the Plaza Espana didn't have a great view but is probably quieter.

It may be only a 2 star because it hasn't got a bar or whatever, but it is the best 2 star I have ever stayed in. Lovely room overlooking the square, spotlessly clean ( cleaned every day), sun terrace on the roof with small pool, lovely helpful staff. Arrive by car or taxi through underground car park. Hotel is very central, near the main square and church, we didn't find it noisy at all. Breakfast is continental, with cereals, diy toast etc., coffee from a machine but good. If there is ANY criticism of this hotel it is that the breakfast could be more exciting, but that is not much negative to say is it!

Nice hotel with beautiful roof top. As they are a few hundred feet from the center square it can be noisy when entertainment is going on but it ends early so was not an issue for us. It was a nice place and breakfast was good.

To find the hotel by car, follow the hotel signs which leads to an underground parking area - you will see the hotel from the ground level. The underground car park is E1 per hour so expensive for a whole day; to avoid this you need to move the car to a free car park - about 10 minutes walk.

Good size room, modern, clean and comfortable. Tea/coffee facilities in rom plus refridgerator. Excellent service. Very good breakfast. Great location.

I would usually be reluctant to stay in a 2-star hotel but having read the rave reviews it was well worth making that decision. The hotel from the rooms to the pool and dining area are spotlessly clean. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. I stayed with my son for 3 nights and we wished we could have stayed longer. It is bed and breakfast (buffet style) but you are on the doorstep of the many eateries in Nerja.

We will be back to the Hotel Puerta del Mar with the rest of my family real soon. Thank you for a lovely stay.
