Just returned from the verano azul in nerja spain, we were very disappointed with the apartment Firstly the air conditioning was not working when I went to ask about this I was told that it wasnt hot enough!!, secondly there was no kettle or hair dryer! If you wanted to use the washing machine you needed to ask at reception for a special adaptor plug, they give you no information about this when you arrive. The apartment itself was very tired and in need of a good make over. Will visit nerja again but will not stay at the verano azul. Also no sun beds for apartment pool the roof top terrace had three sun beds but this area was very untidy and run down we used it once.

I came here recently and I agree with the people that rated it terrible...at least the sheets were clean but you could see the mattress through which was gross... everything was old and worn and very basic..bathrooms cheap loo roll and mouldy showers full of hair...
air con that didn't work (conveniently until the start of a month) we think it was because we weren't yet in the season!!
Beautiful place in terms of the town but as it is not really a 'wild' place you wouldn't want to stay here as far to basic..I can only stay somewhere like this if i'm out partying and this is not that sort of area.
On the plus side we paid very little to stay here so i guess you get what you pay for. I also found it odd that they didn't have sun longers by the pool and no bar.

Room Tip: No idea all seemed the same

We booked a one bedroom self-catering apartment in Verano Azul through holidaynerja.co.uk. We thoroughly recommend it. Our first impressions when we came in were great - Pete and Kathy had even provided fresh flowers for us and they popped around to check everything was ok. We have a 1 year old and they provided a cot and bedding and high chair for him. The apartment is safe for small children.

The apartment has an small balcony (also safe for kids) with an excellent view of the sea over the tops of the nearby houses. There is satellite TV with English channels, a well stocked kitchen including washing machine. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk from the apartment. The complex has three communal swimming pools - one on the roof of the apartment block with a sundeck, and two in the grounds of the complex. As it was late march, the weather had warmed up but the pools were still a little too cold for our liking. I imagine that by May the pools will be lovely.

There are plenty of places to eat within 10 -15 minutes walk. One word of warning, very few spanish restaurants had High Chairs, so we recomend bringing a portable seat harness (we use the Koo-Di which worked fine http://www.koo-di.co.uk/packit_seat_harness.php ). The restaurants on Burriana Beach did have high chairs (and served EXCELLENT paella cooked in front of you).

With a 1-year-old, we were pushing a buggy around. With a pushchair, Burriana Beach is buggy accessible and is only a 10-12 minute walk away. It also has children's play equipment. Nerja Town centre (Balcony of Europe) is about 15 minutes down hill. There is another buggy-accessible beach immediately to the West of the Balcony of Europe.

It is worth hiring a car and there is parking on the street outside the apartment and on the side streets around. These can get quite busy though. The road to the North of the apartment complex is quite busy and you can hear a lot of noisy scooters whizzing past. The front door does a decent job of keeping out the worst of the noise. Fortunately the patio doors and balcony are south facing so you can shut the front door and sit on the balcony in relative peace.

holidaynerja.co.uk have a number of other properties around the town. As I didn't go in them I can't comment on them but I'd be very happy to use Holiday Nerja again if we decide to go back.

We ahve stayed in the Nerano Azul apartments for each of the last 4 years, booking through holidaynerja.com. Kathy & Pete the couple who run the Company are efficient and very friendly. Their apartments have been modernised in the last 2 years and are very comfortable. An ideal location for exploring Nerja.
