Not for people who might have walking difficulties unless you request a ground floor apartment nothing but steps up which we had to drag our cases and my grandson in his buggy very limited reception hours stayed a week and never once saw a cleaner towels were handed in at the door mid week that was it pools were fine no sunbeds allowed its a good twenty min walk uphill back from centre of town so I would have to say if you have a baby in a buggy or are if a certain age and not as agile as you were these are to be avoided

My girlfriend & i stayed here recently for 6 nights. We asked for air conditioning, a double bed & a balcony & thats exactly what we got. The apartment had a proper cooker, kitchen & shower etc. No issues there. Only tiny annoyance was the ants, who as soon as they saw a crumb on the ground, went for it with great diligence! But this is Spain & no big deal there. A daily sweep of the floors sorted that out no problem! Pool area was lovely also. Id recommend this Apartment complex as a great place to stay & value for money.

basic, but for what we paid and needed the apartment for fine, nice big terrace, not really centrally located if you want to be near the beach, but we knew this, handy for the bus station though. appt 102, was directly beneath the airconditioning unit (we think) so sounded like a light aircraft overhead all night. Would go again for the type of holiday we have just had, where we we're only using it for sleeping and getting changed, but not if we wanted to spend more time at the appt, it was very basic, but you dont go to spain to sit in an appartment anyway. Ive given a four because of the price we paid, so it was good value.

Room Tip: 102.. huge terrace. Directly beneath aircon?? also up two flights of stairs. Lots of hot water

We visited verona azul apartments in the third week in may, the weather was not great but the sun shone through the clouds enough to eat outdoors most of the time. The apartments were clean, tidy and comfortable and had everything we needed for our weeks holiday. Nerja is a beautiful spanish town perfect for couples and families. All the bars and restaurants we visited were of good quality and we feel we paid a fair price for all our meals and drinks. We would definitely return to Nerja and the verona azul apartments.

Various firms and individuals own these apartments and it looks like we landed one of the poorer apartments from the reviews that we read on Tripadvisor beforehand.

We landed late Saturday evening, reception was closed and a note left for us to collect keys at a different hotel 200 metres uphill – as expected but a bit of a pain. We found room 68 which was third floor but on roadside. The apartment was quite large for two and seemed adequately equipped. But we were both freezing in the night. My husband slept in his clothes as no spare bedding was provided. The cooing of pigeons awakened us which we discovered were nesting on our patio which was covered in pigeon excrement. A bamboo stick was provided which we assumed was to use to try to steer away the pigeons.

As stated to the contrary on many of the Tripadvisor reviews, our apartment had no washing machine, no hairdryer, and no safe. However, we did have a kettle (for the hob) and a cooker with 4 rings (but only 2 worked and the oven didn’t work). We would not class the patio as large and, although we had expected landscaped gardens, we would describe these more as landscaped ‘pathways’. The bunch of keys provided were for the front door (obviously), the padlocked gate across the patio, and the padlocked gates around the swimming pools. However, there were no sunbeds around the two ground floor pools but a concrete terrace for sunbathing purposes. Owners and long-term rental folk carted their own beds to the concrete area but we learnt that we were expected to use towels on the grassed area as the ‘community requested it’, presumably to protect the grass. This was certainly not a pristine lawn! We were aware of a further rooftop pool but none of our keys opened the padlock at the bottom of the staircase which lead up to this pool. When I later in the week asked reception if this pool was closed, I discovered that this was only for use of residents in one particular block, similarly with wifi and other services.

The next day reception was closed again. When reception was open on Monday, the one member of staff did not speak English. However, she was able to communicate via a translation tool on her mobile phone. We asked if it would be possible to change rooms away from the roadside and because of the nesting pigeons. She said there was a problem with pigeons, they had tried everything, but the pigeons were a problem for many of the rooms. We went back to reception at 5pm as requested to discuss further with a member of staff who could speak English and she confirmed that the only available rooms accommodated one person only or were rooms which also had a pigeon problem. We asked if the patio could at least be cleaned. The patio was cleaned but was again covered in pigeon muck the next day. This rendered the patio out of bounds.

Other than this one requested visit to our room, there was no other visit from staff for cleaning, emptying bins, etc. The place is shabby, shoddy, and could do with a complete maintenance overhaul.

Pleasant week in early March at an apartment on the edge of town. Had great help from Kathy at Holiday Nerja in sorting out the place at a very good price. Easy walk into town, Burriana 10 mins, old town 20/25. Uphill all the way back.

Apartment basic, but adequate. Billed as a place for 4. With the terrible luck I had with weather all week, I think another 3 people in that small space could have lead to ructions. Perfectly good for me on my own.

Little bit of sun I did get disappears from the balcony about 4pm. Pool & roof terrace available.

Two small gripes. I had looked for an apartment with a good wifi connection. Wifi (paid) was available, but not accessible through an iPad. A very fundamental flaw in this day & age.

As the weather was pretty dire, I ended up spending a lot of the day indoors. Second gripe is that the sky package available was the most basic. However, if the sun had been shining I would never have turned the TV on.

Supersol across the highway provided all my necessary comforts & relatively chap.

El Duque a couple of blocks towards town provided good coffee & the wifi I needed.

All in all a pleasant week.
