“Pleasant staff, peaceful, excellent value and super clean”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

Some of the most helpful and friendly staff I have ever come across, everything we required was met with a smile and we did not once feel a burden. The hotel was so peaceful and the pool area was tranquil and relaxing. We were generously granted an upgrade to a superior room which was a pleasant surprise (free of charge) even tho we were more than happy with our lodgings at the time. The restaurant next door is incredible and excellent value, you must eat there it was the best we had on our trip!!! Overall our stay was so pleasant and comfortable and all our needs were taken care of but I must mention THE STAFF were the best part of our stay !!! Wonderful to deal with

I searched lots of reviews on here before booking our hotel and I'm glad I finally settled on Hotel Los Arcos. Really friendly staff, lovely pool area, clean and spacious rooms, a small bar offering 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour (though disappointingly not cocktails), and decent snack food with a lovely tapas restaurant attached.

We had room 207 which was huge and spotless. At first I was a bit disappointed the sun terrace didn't have much of a view as it was at the back but it turned out for the best as we had much more privacy than if we'd had a pool-facing terrace and it was lovely and quiet. Didn't get a whole lot of sun on it except first thing in the morning but sometimes it was nice to sit out in the shade!

The pool is very nice, and clean. Lots of sun loungers and shades, though annoyingly some guests would reserve them with towels and leave to go elsewhere. Only once did we not manage to get a lounger though. It's a good hotel for adults/couples with the majority of the guests being a little older. There were a few families with kids too. Breakfast was varied and pretty nice - there was cereals, yoghurts, fruits, crepes, home made rolls, toast, bacon, fried eggs, sausage, beans, cold meats, cheese, orange juice. In the bar there's tapas and a snack menu with pizzas, omelettes, chips, hot dogs etc - not very Spanish but good for kids and the non-adventurous I suppose.

When booking I'd reserved a superior room with 'free high speed internet' but it turns out there's no wifi available in the rooms, only in the reception/bar area which was a bit annoying. That's the only real gripe though, everything else was great. I didn't hear any noise from the construction site next door. Burriana beach ( the biggest beach) is a downhill walk from the hotel which takes around 15 minutes but getting back up is longer - because of the heat! I'm not sure why anyone is complaining about the walk to the town centre - it really isn't far at all and it's all flat. I'm glad we were a bit out of town as it was much quieter. The town itself is gorgeous and while a lot of it is (unfortunately) catering for British tastes it's not nearly as bad as some places in Spain for that. There's not a huge amount to see or do in the town itself - if you have a car it would be much easier to get to surrounding places but the bus service is good, i hear. Definitely visit the Caves, they are incredible. We walked there and back, so is doable.

Would go back!

Room Tip: 207 is lovely and quiet with a secluded sun terrace for privacy.

Just returned from this wonderful family run hotel after an 8 night break. We had Room 101 which was a standard room opening out onto the pool area, quiet, serene, pretty, beautiful views, you could not fault it at all. The standards of cleanliness were amazing, the hotel staff all so friendly and helpful and although we are regular visitors to Nerja of some 30 years, this was our first stay here and have already re-booked for 2014 ! Nothing was too much trouble, the food both in the café bar and full restaurant was of a really high standard and very reasonably priced than eating in the town itself. Parking is available but there is a bus service into town which stops right outside the hotel, good for non-drivers, taxis are readily available and the town is only 2 mins away by car. The swimming pool was clean, fresh and always inviting - unlike a lot of hotel pools we have found ! There is a Supermarket being built next door and yes, there was a bit of noise but it did not disturb anyone there, including us an we were nearer to it and when finished it will be a bonus, cannot believe people are so short-sighted, its nearly finished and Spain needs to improve its economy and it was nice to see Spanish people with jobs ! There is a happy hour between 5-8 which is enjoyed by some locals as well as guests and bearing in mind the locals keep the hotel busy during the winter I hardly think that anyone could have a problem with that either ! WIFI is available in the public areas but not in the rooms (at the moment), we did suggest this but well done to the owners and management of this hotel, it was amazing and we really look forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: Room 101 lovely, opens up into its own terrace with seating and into the pool. Saw a few other room...

Lovely hotel more suitable for adults. We have stayed four times now and find the rooms large and comfortable with good sized terraces. A very attractive pool with loungers and sunshades always available. Very helpful staff and owners. There is a very friendly local bar offering a two hour happy hour with two for one drinks. Free WIFI is available in the bar and common areas. Attached is a very unusual restaurant serving an imaginative selection of tapas as a starter and a main course. The breakfast is a little limited but perfectly adequate. As we do not like pizzas we found the snack menu a little lacking, however many others obviously didn't. There is a good bus service into town but rather a long walk to the beach. Hire a car for a few days as there are lovely inland routes to visit and there is always parking space available at the hotel. If you don't hire a car taxis are plentiful and reasonable.

Room Tip: We prefer the second floor

We stayed here for 1 week at the end of July. Pleasant hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and a nice pool area. Bar and snack bar area are good but could have done with being a bit cleaner, the happy 3 hours is great once you understand how it works. The location is two minutes walk from the supermarket, 20 mins from the Burriana Beach and 30 mins from the town centre all walking times. Whether that's good or not is up to you. If you book through Thompsons as we did there is no rep presence an there are no excursions offered by Thomson or if there are they certainly kept them a secret from us.
Would we stay here again? Probably not. Would we recommend it to our friends? Maybe.

Had read reviews before booking this for a two week holiday. Was not quiet, noise from building site across road, supermarket plus space for 180 cars so ongoing work. The expats took over the hotel for 3hr happy hour so no seats for guests. Had room 111 and could hear every noise in the building. was not able to move as most guests only stayed a few nights. Seemed more like a hostel than a hotel. Ate in the hotel a lot and food very good. Thank goodness for the friendly staff as no-one else spoke to us. Couldn't wait to leave.

We never write reviews but had such a lovely stay in Los Arcos at the end of June that we thought we should! Los Arcos feels more like a big house than a hotel and the staff were very friendly. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, have good air conditioning and were spotlessly cleaned every day. We booked a superior room (201) and had a fantastic terrace with cushioned sunbeds, table and chairs, a view of the pretty pool area and sea. It was perfect as half of the terrace was always in the sun and the other half had a cover for shade. The pool area was lovely and peaceful but the terrace was so comfortable we often forgot to leave! We prefer to eat out but had one dinner in the cosy hotel restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Burriana beach is nearby - a 10 minute walk downhill and a bit longer on the way back as it is uphill. The centre of Nerja was a few minutes' drive away - 7 Euros each way by taxi. The caves were a 5 minutes' drive from the hotel and were spectacular!
