“Best House in the Area”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Spent one night there. Very nice and quite house at the sea in a wonderful garden. Nice people, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are homely and comfortable. Good food with a very tasty breakfast buffet. House is ideal if you want to be in Europe's surfer paradise.

Room Tip: If you visit the hotel with your kids, family rooms available with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Location
When arriving at the Hurricane hotel, you feel like travelling back into time, this is a beautiful heart-breaking hotel
located on the coastline of Tarifa. This hotel has two pools, one in the main part of the hotel, and the other one near the beach bar and fitness center. This one is only for adults.
The good thing is that you can relax in various places, so you can enjoy a quiet moments with your family, partner of friends.

At the front desk you'll find a very helpful and welcoming lady, who speaks good English.
Not everyone in this hotel is as friendly as the reception... we travel a lot in Andalucía and we believe and know that most of the hotels staff people are very friendly.
But in this hotel some of staff are not guest friendly. But don't let this be the trigger to not stay here, this is a good hotel.
If they could work on the guest friendly part, it makes a stay in this hotel much better.

Rooms:
We had a room in the front garden, no tv. which is not a problem, some rooms have tv and some don't. It can be helpful to mention this in your booking process, if you want a tv in your room or not. The spacious rooms are equipped with large beds -> this is quite a rarity in Spain. Rooms are clean and they all have a large bathrooms.

i don’t think, if you go back 15 years, much is changed in this hotel. but overall ok, just a little overprized.

Breakfast:

lot's to choose from, you have to take your breakfast equipment by yourself, ( a plate, knives, coffee, etc ) ... no service.
no fresh orange juice... which is a pity. It can be very crowded on the terrace...

Tarifa:

I loved Tarifa and de surf vibe.. a lot of young people come to this town, but i think in this hotel people from 50 till 80 or something would love this..
it's not for people from 20 - to 50.

you'll have to drive to get in Tarifa.

Would definitely try another hotel in Tarifa.
to bad, because this hotel could have it all.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hurricane Hotel and had the most brilliant time. We chose the hotel as it has an onsite windsurf centre (club Mistral) so my husband could go out surfing and I could stay by the pool (of which they have two; one for the kids to mess around in and another for adults to relax/read in peace). We were so impressed by the food - fresh fruit & veg at the breakfast buffet - and generous portions of fresh fish & salads for lunch. We also joined in the morning yoga sessions - the instructor was excellent & it has even spurred us on to find a class to visit now we're back in London. Although the hotel isn't exactly luxurious and is perhaps less expensive than the hotels we normally stay in, it's rustic, charming and we noticed that the grounds are very well kept.

All in all we thought the Hurricane Hotel was a real gem and would return without a doubt.

Room Tip: Just a little FYI - there was no TV in our room (this didn't bother us at all but it's good...

We got there after going around in Gibraltar and not feeling very secure in the area within. We looked on tripadvisor and decided to go on to the Hurricane Hotel. It was like a small oasis of peace and even though it's simple and beachy, we really got into the groove of this little gem. Our dinner was absolutely enchanting and we just had a great evening. We explored Tarifa the next day and it was just beautiful.

I had lunch and nosed around...will definitely come back to stay over.

The setting fabulous...the lobby, bar and grounds are spiffy. The service I had was friendly.

I had lunch in the beach bar and it rates a place all of its own in the list of great lunches along this strip. A big plate of four salads..hunks of fresh tuna, mushrooms, potato and shrimp. There were other choices, but this hit the spot.

Five minutes to town in another world.

Excellent location situated close to the beach! Only 10 minutes drive to the old town of Tarifa. Good facilities, nice dining, two pools and a beachbar. Rooms are simple but large enough. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

We had a family room and I think they were a bit overpriced. Quality was ok, beds not new, not hot water all the time. A bit damp feeling in rooms in February but likely to be nicer in summer! Restaurant in hotel was a gem, nice atmosphere and good food! Location just by the beach, good for a morning run or afternoon surf. Horse stables next to hotel where you can rent nice Andalusian horses w guide for a good price - great experience and service!
