I spent 7 days at Hotel Riu Arecas in ADEJE and was happy. Nice place, perfect views of the ocean. I loved Tenerife and would stay at Riu Arecas again. Very good food, great ice cream and a large selection of cakes and fruits and breads, all kinds of salads, pizzas etc.. Very good service

Have just returned from The Riu Arecas overall very good, Food, Room, Poo ,Staff very polite and friendly and very helpful.....
The only things that let this hotel down are the sunbeds VERY !!!!!!! Uncomfortable, which was a shame as this spoilt the relaxation process around the pool, other good hotels have sunbed cushions, why not here? Also other little grumbles are the bedroom beds are very hard, the bath towels are very small and skimpy. The other thing that lets it down is the pool is too cold. Another few degrees and it would be lovely. Whilst we were there the Hotel had a few Russians staying, and their table manners leave a lot to be desired !!!!! rather off putting to say the least , the hotel operates two dinner sittings in the restaurant 6pm and 8 pm which is great .... But Please if you are going to take children to this hotel (there are NO Kids club or anything for Kids) Please take your Children in at the 6pm sitting and not the 8pm so those of us that don't have Kids can sit eat and enjoy our dinner without babies screaming the roof tops off.
If those little niggles are addressed it would be a great hotel and we would definitely visit again. If things are left as they are (sunbeds, towels and pool) we will probably use another hotel in future.

Just returned from a very enjoyable week staying at the Riu Arecas. We emailed the hotel in advance requesting an upper floor room with pool view and were pleased to see on arrival that we were allocated just that! Rooms are of a decent size and kept spotlessly clean. The staff are all so pleasant and helpful, nothing seems to be a trouble. The pool area is also very well kept, plenty of sun beds and 2 pools aswel as a small children's pool. For those who fancy a bit of fun, there's daily activities such as French boules, yoga, tennis and aqua gym. The aqua gym was the only activity that we did but was most enjoyable, the instructor put on great sessions making it fun for all. The food is really good both at breakfast and dinner, plenty of variety, is constantly replenished and very fresh- what more could you ask for. The hotel management were also very visible and seemed keen to be asking guests how they were and if they were enjoying their stay.
The hotel is in an excellent location, 2 mins walk from the coastal walkway that stretches for miles with some nice restaurants, cafés and shops along the way. 3 supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk. This was our fifth stay at a Riu hotel, would definitely recommend the Arecas for a pleasant holiday as we really enjoyed our stay. Well done Rui!!!

Room Tip: Upper floor with pool view

We have returned from the Hotel Riu Arecas in Oct 2013 - 24th sept to 1st Oct, and although it was a 4* Hotel it is very close to becoming a 3*.
We always go to Costa Adeje but this is the first time we have stayed in this Hotel (probably the last?).
The main disadvantages were:
-We were put into two adjacent rooms as we were with another couple but it was noisy next to the roads. They did however move us the next day to a more suitable room but above the main Kitchen.
-It is a long way to walk into Torviscus or to any main shopping areas.
-There is a lot of walking that may suit some people but not if you are elderly or have some walking disability.
-The rooms need modernising and the TV's are the old Box Type with no home English Channels like BBC1 or ITV.
- The food is more suited to our German or European friends.

*One good thing is the Staff were very friendly and would try to do anything to help you.

Room Tip: Always request a Pool view room to reduce noise.

We have been to this hotel over the past 13 years, and most of the staff are still there. They are very helpful and always smiling. There was a problem with the electric but they only had the generators for the emergency. This has now been sorted. Everything is always clean and the food is very good. Victor is so funny he keeps everyone laughing. All the bar and reception staff are first class.

Just retuned from two weeks at the Riu Arecas we booked the hotel for our wedding anniversary we e-mailed the hotel in advance requesting a high floor room overlooking the pool and where very pleased when we arrived we got the room we requested and a lovely bottle of champagne for our anniversary. We found the food varied and of a very high standard with something for everyone we found all the staff very attentive and friendly the hotel provide pool towels which you can collect between 8am and 12pm and can be changed daily there are plenty of sun lounges and parasols available at any time of day and no need to reserve them. We found the entertainment very good with a resident band and particularly the tribute bands, and you can use the facilities in the Riu Palace directly opposite as well. Found the drinks quite reasonably priced and very good measures

To the front of the hotel are a small supermarket and a shop to book excursions. To the rear of the hotel down some steps, leads to the sea front, there is a lovely kiosk in the shape of a strawberry that sells freshly made fruit smoothies and mojitos. If you turn left at the sea front there are some restaurants bars and boutique shops. The promenade stretches for miles. Turn right on the sea front and it’s about a twenty minute walk into the beautiful fishing village La Caleta

We spend 5 days at Riu Arecas and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff was extremely helpful and polite, the room was very comfortable (although the tiny TV was a bit disappointing) and the pool was clean and with plenty of sun loungers. Breakfast and dinner were included and the food, while not gourmet, was reasonably varied and always super fresh. I would definitely go back.
