“Difficult to find fault”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

We have just returned from a weeks holiday to this hotel travelling with Thomson.
As with all Riu hotels you are guaranteed quality. Arriving quite late 9.00 p.m. we were advised to leave the check in ritual and go straight in for dinner. After a pleasant meal we completed the check in requirements and went to our room (2017) on the second floor. Quite a large room, twin beds, two armchairs, decent sized bathroom, loads of wardrobe and drawer space, balcony, Air con and fan. The only downside was an old style TV.
The food, not a bad selection on offer for both breakfast and dinner. A little bit repetitive but a decent variety on offer to meet most if not all tastes. The service was first class with friendly and attentive staff.
The pool area was good. 2 decent size pools and a paddling pool for children. Loads of sunbeds. Towels provided from Reception when producing your towel card. You were also given a keycard when arriving to give you access to the sister hotel next door and the many facilities available but not use of their pool. The fitness team organised several poolside activities. There is also a very good pool bar.
There is a large bar/entertainment area.
Going from the hotel a short walk brings you to the promenade. Turning left will take you to several very nice restaurants and bars and will lead you to a superb designer shopping mall (20/30 mins. walk) Turning right onto the promenade leads you to a small old fishing village (15/20 min walk) where there are 3 or 4 good fish restaurants and right at the end a restaurant serving a variety of food.
The hotel itself was built in 1998 although it looks considerably younger from the outside.
My only criticism is that some of the fixtures and fittings (taps and old TV) are needing replacement and I was told by the Hotel Director the hotel is due for refurbishment next spring.
I would certainly recommend this hotel. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms 2030 - 2032 as I believe these were located near an air con generator.compressor...

If a spotlessly clean environment and extremely friendly and helpful staff are important factors on your holiday then stay here.I could not fault the cleaning-and Im very fussy about that. The waiters were very attentive in the dining areas and tables always clean and well presented. The reception staff were exceptional, even the smallest thing was no trouble and they were always smiling even when VERY busy! I had a few problems whilst on holiday and they were very kind and helpful. On my birthday I received a bottle of bubbly at dinner, and the reception staff had sent a bottle of nice red wine and card to my room while we were out during the day! a very thoughtful and nice surprise. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful area and you can use the Riu Palace spa next door.My daughter and I had some fabulous treatments, and I had the best remedial total body massage ever.As a qualified masseuse I know the procedures, and the therapist was exceptional. The food could be improved upon, although the salads, breads, and porridge were excellent.Room furnishings a little jaded too but this is more than compensated for by the excellent staff, cleanliness and fabulous cocktails.Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: the third or fourth floors overlooking pool and sea, and from the righthandside you can see mountain...

We had a great break at this hotel in late April/early May. The weather was glorious and the surroundings peaceful and idyllic.Friendly hotel at the staff made it the perfect battery charger for a winter-weary couple!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room to avoid a duff view. Double bed was uncomfortable for a tall guy so maybe put...

Our 4th visit to this superb Hotel. Lovely quiet location but a short walk to plenty of restaurants bars and shops. We love the fact that you can walk all the way to Los Christianos one way and the unspoilt area of La Caletta the other way. Hotel always spotlessly clean and the same staff every year and they always look happy while they work. A good choice of food -3 soups every night good choice of salads several choices of meat and vegetables also cheese and biscuits and lots of deserts. Looking forward to the refurbishment next year but hope they don't change it too much. There's a good bar called Tiggies just over the road with live music most nights and a quiz on Monday. Very much worth a visit. Will definitely be returning.

Great hotel, friendly staff, super clean, wonderful views. However the food was not great fish was overlooked and dry the meat and chicken were tough and over cooked. It was frustrating in the mornings trying to peel the oranges and other fruits with a blunt knife . Most hotels cut and slice the fruit. The salads were boring and tended to be drowned in vinegar. There were a lot of Germans staying at the hotel so the food was catered to their taste . The layout of the dinning room was not thought out very well as there were huge pillars beside the hot food buffet area so two people could not pass at the same time . I spent a lot of time walking up an down the dinning room looking for stuff trying to avoid getting knocked into and my food spilt over me. Eating at the hotel was not a relaxing experience. Tables were too close together so if you were on the inside you would have to be a size 8 to squeeze past to get out or wait until the other table got up to go to the buffet.
There was 33 steps to get down to the road to get to the hotel opposite to get a lift 6 floors down to the beach or 133 steps to walk down to the promenade so not recommended for people with mobility problems.

Room Tip: Ask for 4th or 5th floor with pool/ sea view . Beds are hard but ask for mattress topper as soon as...

Copied other review almost word for word. Stayed for 11 nites of gorgeous sunshine. . Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly staff. Rooms a bit drab but hey who stays in the room on holiday. Bed a bit hard. Clean towels on demand and sea/ pool views from balcony.Food okay, got a bit samey, but what was expected, nothing wrong with it though. Breakfasts though were lovely you could get an outside terrace table. Pool area again spotlessly clean We walked thru the Riu Palace beach pool area which was much more spacious and relaxing. Better entertainment at the Riu Palace too. Lovely walks along promenade to La Caleta Would I stay here again? Yes Do enjoy. A great 4 Star holiday. ....BIG complaint, non smoking room BUT neighbors smoked CIGARS on balcony so that we could NOT open sliding doors or sit on balcony - ALLERGIC to SMOKE!! need to have NON-SMOKING blocks of rooms, NO smoking neighbors PLEASE.

Room Tip: You can ask for a room away from kitchen, noise, with a sea view, but everyone does, so won't al...

Stayed for a week for some r&r from 13.04.14. Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly staff. Rooms a bit drab but hey who stays in the room on holiday. Bed uber comfortable. Clean towels on demand and sea/ pool views from balcony. Who could ask for more. Was our wedding anniversary whilst staying and was supplied with 2 free bottles of bubbly which was a lovely touch. Food okay, got a bit samey, but what was expected, nothing wrong with it though. Breakfasts though we're lovely if you could get an outside terrace table. One waitress to look out for was maria del Mxx who had the most infectious laugh and personality. Pool area again spotlessly clean, comfy sunbeds bud did get busy around the pool. We very naughtily took ourselves to the Riu Palace beach pool area which was much more spacious and relaxing. Better entertainment at the Riu Palace too. Lovely walks along prom to La Caleta for Tapas lunch. Would I stay here again? You bet I would. Do enjoy. A great 4 Star holiday. Some people expect too much.....

Room Tip: High floor, pool sea view. We had 4020
