We stayed for 2 nights on 14th and 15th March. This is a really great old hotel, bags of character, but everything works.
Ours was the Fuerteventura room, bright and sunny, with a great bathroom.
The breakfasts were superb.

We stayed 3 nights from the 7 th February 2017 in the La Palma room which I believe is probably the best one. It costs a little extra for this superior room but it has a superb position at the rear of the property and away from the road. Large double windows face south with views of Mt Teide and also west to overlook Puerto de la Cruz and the sea. You also get the benefit of sunshine all day which you need during the Winter
We felt very priveledged to stay in a such magnificently well renovated Canarian mansion at an extremely modest room rate which includes a very good breakfast .
The hotel has its own private parking spaces in the road outside and help in available with you luggage
We stay for several months in the south of the island and this was a very enjoyable city break and a complete change of environment for us
We eat at lovely little restaurant down the road called ' La Canada ' which serves freshly cooked dishes in very pleasant surroundings with a good wine list at a moderate price
Please also visit the nearby Centro de Visitantes del N Teide which has free entry and a wonderfully high tec exhibition

Room Tip: Superior room is best

Went here last Tuesday, intending to stay eight nights, but came home after five. The weather was cold with intermittant sun. Although the hotel was beautiful, there was not enough heating to make it comfortable at this time of year. The owner was very kind when we decided to leave early, and only charged for the five nights. Great hotel at the wrong time of year.

An interesting old house with some beautiful original features like oak panelling, fresco ceilings and intricate plasterwork throughout. There are lots of lovely sitting areas, a TV room, music centre, tea & coffee to make whenever you want it, mini bars in the bedrooms and a sauna room, in fact, everything you need. Continental breakfast is self-service in two dining rooms with a good selection plus fresh juice, fruit, coffee, eggs, breads, cheese, ham. The manager and his assistant Jessica are very friendly and helpful and are happy to respond to any requests, definitely a good place to stay in La Orotava.

Spent a week at Hotel Alhambra a perfect base for exploring northern Tenerife. In September It was quiet (Nov-March is peak). The hotel is African influenced in style and a real treat. Very comfortable bed, large bathroom with bath and separate shower. It has several quiet lounges and a shade terrace next to a small pool. On arrival the Director gives a short history of the building and the artist Ortazzo. The hotel only has 6 rooms and so is very peaceful. The town of La Orotava is lovely and easy to walk around and has several nice places to eat (tapas or more). It is probably best for people who have hired a car and wish to explore. In particular one should visit the Volcano Centre and find out the different walks/ hikes one the volcano. The landscape on the volcano is unlike anything we have seen. Great place for a 2-4 day visit or longer if you like to laze around in elegant historic surroundings. Lastly, the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. hotel Alhambra is a real gem of a boutique hotel.
