My husband and I set off to Littlecote with some trepidation after our disastrous birthday weekend at Cricket St Thomas three weeks before. Well our fears were completely unfounded as to our great delight our experience at Littlecote was as excellent as Cricket was bad.

The food and the presentation of food was amazing. Such a mouthwatering choice of dishes to choose from. From the little individual baskets the chips arrived in to the miniature saucepans holding vegetables to the little slates some of the deserts were on - all a world away from our experience at Cricket. Also the tables were not crammed together so the whole eating experience a delight. Our waitress at Cricket had too many tables to wait on and she was rude whereas our delightful waiter - Matevsz (Matthew) - could not do enough for us. He was attentive, helpful and polite. Good man.

The entertainment staff worked their socks off with excellent shows and the pantomine just so funny. It was the same pantomine - Dick Whittington - as Cricket but vastly superior and hilarious. It was lovely to see that the Entertainments Director - Dan - still there. What a talented man he is.

All the staff - apart from the very rude Italian (or Spanish) lady organising the seating in the main restaurant- were most helpful and obviously enjoyed their job.

There was so much going on as well - this being a Turkey and Tinsel week.

I can only suggest that the Manager of Cricket along with his Entertainments Director and Head Chef, should visit Littlecote to see how it should be done!!

We went home with our faith in Warners restored. We will most certainly return to Littlecote.

This is part of the Warner Group Hotels. It is set in extensive grounds with good leisure facilities. Rooms are a good size but are quite far from the dining room & facilities. Hungerford is a few miles away; this Town has some nice antique shops.

In house entertainment was one of the best I have seen for a long time well done.
Waiters not very good they really weren't interested in it wasn't offered coffee after dinner in the dinning room(didn't see anyone having it) but had it and pay full whack in the bar as all others did. Come on warner please sort the coffee situation out as its been free up to now with our meal.

Room Tip: all rooms are good here

This is the second occasion my wife and I visited Warners Littlecote House, Hunger ford. It was a Tinsel and Turkey. All I can say is that the entertainment, food and staff were all excellent. The reception upon arrival was first class. This time we had a historical suite in the old house, the room was superb. We have been to Warners five times, we love it, everyone is so friendly and the staff cannot do enough for you. I hope to continue to visit more of these hotels.

Room Tip: I had the Stuart Suite this time which was in the old house on the ground floor which was excellent.

Though my partner and I are not new to Warner's we have only ever visited Cricket as it has always provided exceptional accommodation, food, ambiance, staff and entertainment. However, we decided to venture out of our 'comfort zone' and try here - and wow were we impressed.

Check-in in the house was excellent.

We stayed in the Popham Suite which is exceptional and great that it still has a 2 person(ish) Jacuzzi bath which Cricket have removed. We couldn't fault this Historic Room.

We only ate in Oliver's (great to pop down for breakfast in our dressing gowns) and it was exceptional; scallops, foie gras, venison, fillet, fish etc etc.

The built in history of the house in the character rooms is excellent - and especially fun at midnight!

We only went to the entertainment on the Saturday and witnessed probably the weakest Freddy Mercury lead singer ever! Hey it was only an hour out of our lives :-)

Not much more to say other than "we'll be back" to try another Historic Room...

Room Tip: Historic Rooms all the way and only eat in Oliver's

We are not new to Warner Leisure holidays but this was our first stay at Littlecote House. We had a three night weekend stay and stayed in a magnificent suite in the old house. The accommodation and the grounds of this historic house are absolutely superb. The Queen Elizabeth Suite consisted of three very large rooms, a bedroom with huge four poster bed, lounge and a sumptuous bathroom. Wide screen TV’s in the lounge and bedroom, mini-bar with two bottles of wine and even a Christmas tree in the room as well as a private parking space and a concierge welcome made it feel very special.

We had a free upgrade to eat one night in Oliver’s Bistro, which was first class and also ate breakfast every day in the Bistro. The main dining room on the other two nights was perfectly acceptable with good food and service.

An attraction for us with a Warner break is the leisure facilities and entertainment and the swimming pool complex was up to standard. The entertainment overall was good although a little different to other Warner sites. The Buddy Holly Show on Sunday was excellent and the various plays throughout the weekend dramatising the history of the house also good. Fridays musicals cabaret was well done but felt very dated being centred on Al Jolson musicals. The big disappointment was the headline act Saturday ‘The Rock and Roll Rejects’ who were abysmal. Their whole performance was amateurish and not up to scratch at all but clearly the Warner entertainment staff were also very angry with the performance of this band and we realise this was out of Littlecotes staff control.
Adam Humphrey the entertainment compere was excellent all weekend no matter what he did from quizzes to plays and his one man show Saturday after the fiasco of ‘Rock and Rejects’ ensured we all finished the night with a smile on our faces.

The grounds to Littlecote are stunning and it is worth the walk down to the Roman Villa remains and to see the magnificent Mosaic there.

Our room, the Queen Elizabeth Suite in the oldest part of the house made this stay very memorable. The house has historic links with Jane Seymour, Henry the 8th and Queen Elizabeth 1st. This suites location is not for those of nervous disposition however being located adjacent to the haunted bedroom and other rooms and corridors also allegedly haunted, Littlecote House being famous for its various ghosts. There is even a ghost tour on Friday night for a small fee. We didn’t feel uneasy at all in our room despite pasts guests reporting sightings however since we have downloaded our digital camera with many photographs taken in the room it os most interesting to see so many ‘orbs’ in various parts of the suite.
Most of the hotel rooms are located in purpose built modern blocks adjacent to the main hotel complex.

We really enjoy our Warner breaks and think they offer excellent value for money and the staff are always so helpful, we already have booked to stay at two other Warner hotels in 2014.

Room Tip: To make it memorable 'splash the cash' and stay in a historic room in the old house.

This review is based comparing this turkey & tinsel with a break with the same Warner type break taken at Bembridge last month. The very first impression left a lot to be desired there was a separate table for concierge members to book in but despite standing for some long time with card in my hand I still had to go to the reception desk to get served . We had to ask where to park whilst at Bem. we were told and a place was reserved for Royale guests but not here. No mention was made that mince pies and mulled wine was on offer in the great hall ,we had to find it for ourselves. At Bem. the staff were in Christmas dress but not here. Father Christmas visited all the guests Christmas morning with little presents but this time he was there I think about 10.30 am so we missed him.
We enjoyed the break good entertainment , very good food , but there seemed to be so mnay little things missing. We will certainly go to other Warner breaks but not to Littlecote.

Room Tip: We did not feel there was an advantage to have a Royale room at Littlecote
