Days Inn Membury M4

Reviewed 9 April 2012

We stopped here over the Easter holiday hoping to travel to Bath and the surrounding areas. In spite of it being at a motorway services, it was very quiet. There was a good welcome from the staff and everyone was very helpful. We had a lightbulb that needed changing and they did it straight away. The room was very clean and comfortable as well as being spacious - something you don't always get in a budget hotel. We were VERY pleased with it and wouldn't hesitate to stay at a Days Inn again on the motorway as access and parking is so easy. Waitrose next door at the services was good as we could buy sandwiches for lunch, a light meal and cold drinks to take out for picnics.

Room Tip: All rooms are shielded from the motorway service station by landscaping so no recommendations.

Stayed for two nights in Feb. Good clean quiet modern well equipped room. Helpful reception staff .Would have described as excellent but for hot water not being piping hot and initial email inquiries being ignored ,therefore not qualifying for online tariff .Still good value though !

Room Tip: Opt for a non smoking pet free room unless you need it .

After reading some poor reviews of this place i wasn't expecting much but it more than met my expectations. Nice friendly welcome at check in & even though i booked on a very special £10 per night deal was still able to check in 30 minutes early. Room was clean as was the bed linen & towels & tea & coffee jar was well stocked. No noise overnight so a good nights sleep was had. Some people have said the hotel is difficult to find but surely we all do some homework before we set out & knowing beforehand it was located at Welcome Break service area made it dead easy to find.

Only slight annoyance is that there is no ' service road ' meaning if you want to travel east after leaving the hotel you have to drive several miles west to the Swindon turn off ( M4 J 15 ) & double back on yourself.

Room Tip: As the car park is about 100 yards from the hotel all rooms should be pretty quiet.

Good budget motel. Booked thorough a cheap rooms website. Very economical rate included a single room and a good continental breakfast. Comfortable bed and great shower.

This was a very last minute booking whilst en route to Bristol. As a lone female traveller it was safe, clean and had everything you needed in the room (iron, hairdryer, snack, bottle of water, free wifi etc).
Bed was comfy, and had a good nights sleep-you would not have guessed you were so close to the motorway.
Check in staff were friendly.
I stay away frequently and having everything you need in your room was very handy....no 10-20 minute wait for an iron etc.
Would recommend these places for easy to find and no hassle accommodation. For a last minute booking good value...Premier Inn would have been at least double!
My rating is relative to what they state ( clearly comparing with the Ritz)

Room Tip: Make sure your register your car registration else you'll pick up a nice parking fine!

I checked into this hotel yesterday and cannot believe I stayed at the same hotel as the other reviewers below who gave this 4 stars.

My room was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in and that was after having already asked to be changed once. I stay at different hotels for about 90 nights each year and if I didn't have jet lag there is no way I wud stay here. We tried this hotel as an alternative to travelodge who's rooms tend to vary in cleanliness from one hotel to the next, but I can firmly say that I will never choose a days inn over a travelodge again.

Good points: bed comfy & sheets look clean (I'm hoping the smell is the detergent they use or just the general smell of the room), tv good, free wifi, check inn quick.

Bad points: smelly room, toilet not attached to floor, toilet still had poo from last person in, mirror dirty, carpet and bathroom floor REALLY dirty, puddle of water near toilet, thick dust in room along wall rail, hairdryer and wall covered in tea/ coffee stains, coffee table dirty. Has anyone ever cleaned this room? Whole room grubby. What is up with the pink duvet covers?

Where are management? Do they never spot check the place? Or are they not giving the cleaners enough time to clean? I don't care how cheap a room is, I expect it to be clean and not to smell.

We checked out this morning about 2am to travel home. Receptionist just stared and ignored us.

If clean is not ur thing, then by all means stay here, otherwise keep clear.

I won't be back, it's a perfectly ordinary adequate 2 star hotel, and this is my third stay. Tonight I have been refused loyalty points, apparently for using the wrong booking engine... The hotel has given me Wyndham points for my last 2 stays booked through the same http://www.days-inn-membury.co.uk/home site.

Well if the hotel won't be loyal to me I'll vote with my feet - plenty of this type of hotels on the A34/M4 so bye bye Membury, and if your a high volume hotel user who expects something in return for your custom, this just isn't any place you'll be welcomed.
