“Nice small B&B”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Sue and her husband Paul run this rather small (three rooms) B&B in their home located at the end of the lane in Marlow. We had the upstairs family room which included a double bed and a twin bed. We were surprised to find that it was not en suite but we had failed to ask in advance and since no one else was in the establishment we had the bathroom down the hall to ourselves. Sue keeps a very clean house and the room had all the amenities one would expect. We used it for our final night before leaving England from Heathrow Airport, a 30 minute ride from their home. They suggested we walk to the Three Horseshoes, a local pub in Marlow. Unfortunately, the last portion of the walk was across ta farmer's field that had just been plowed. We had to turn around and walk back to the B&B and take the car losing about 20 minutes. If she makes that suggestion, and you decide to walk wear rugged shoes, take a flashlight and be prepared for mud. Also, we were there in September and it would have been dark on our return making the walk very difficult indeed.

Sue served an excellent breakfast and we had the opportunity to get to know she and her husband Paul, an actor who has been in a number of television programs including several that have been broadcast on PBS in the United States. The day we arrived he had been working on the program called Endeavor, a spinoff from the old detective program, Morse. He also has been on Downton Abbey and other programs we have seen. By the time we left, we felt we were part of the family.

Room Tip: I would be sure to check to see if they have room that is en suite if you do not wish to walk down t...

Dear David and Elizabeth, we are glad you got home safely after your trip here and thank you for your review. There are however one or two things we would like to point out which may be misleading for others wishing to stay here. Our family room has a double bed and a single bed, not a twin bed as you described. We are surprised that you thought we were en suite as our website home page clearly states that we have a shared bathroom for guests.
We have had many guests through the years who have walked across the fields to the Three Horseshoes without any problem and usually mud-free and those who have come back in darkness have been more than happy to accept our offer of the lanterns we provide for this purpose, and which we offered to you at that time.
It is unfortunate that you have deemed to denounce this lovely walk, a walk that all previous guests have given a rapturous roar of approval to.
Kind regards Paul & Sue Simmons

Lovely B & B, the owners are very welcoming and helpful. I just stayed for one night to go to a fancy dress party, the owners even helped me with the finishing touches to my outfit!
The rooms are extremely clean and a great breakfast was included. Would definitely recommend staying here.

I stayed just one night because I was in Marlow for a swimming race in the Thames the next day. Sue and her husband were very welcoming and friendly, and the room was clean to a fault (and very comfortable.) Breakfast was just what I wanted (and there was plenty more on offer), and because I was running late for the start of my race, they even drove me there. They went above and beyond what's expected of a B&B.

This B&B is ideal for fans of Midsomer Murders since the host actually appears as an extra in that TV series! He was able to give us first-hand insight into the series locations which include and surround lovely Marlow. This B&B is also close to Heathrow. The rooms were clean, comfortable and complete with all the extras. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts in the dining room which overlooks a beautiful back garden. But this review would be amiss if it did not include the warm and friendly personalities of the hosts - Sue and Paul. They were - simply the best. We felt we had known them for many years - of course we had seen Paul on TV but didn't realize it at the time! If people make the memories and the trip - we were lucky to find them. They told us about a walk to a pub - through a small wood and down a path through a beautiful field of summer grain. Frankly - it was like being in a movie! Many thanks, Sue and Paul, for many memories.

When we (from Germany, Mother and daughter, 11) started our England-Holidays in Marlow, we stayed at this B&B for two nights. It is an absolutely wonderful place to stay and we regret we didn´t book some days more. We had a very comfortable, pretty room and didn´t miss anything. The house is very well maintained and clean and has a very homely atmosphere. Sue and Paul made us feel welcome, they spared no efford to help us in any way. We will come back again!

This is a small B&B with a maximum of three rooms. We felt very much at home here, with both Sue and Paul going out of their way to help in any way. The whole house is kept spotless and as mentioned in previous reviews everything you could need provided in the room.
It is a shared bathroom, but we knew this before we went, and I have to say although there were at least two other people staying there at the same time we never saw them!
The bed was very comfortable and there is a TV with free view.
I could not fault the breakfast, in fact I have never had such a "non fatty" cooked breakfast, it was beautiful. Sue was prepared to do any combination you might request, and there was ample cereals, and toast and jam etc. No instant coffee here either, we were provided with a pot of freshly made coffee both mornings which my husband enjoyed very much.
Breakfast is taken with a lovely view of the garden through patio doors, and if you time it right I think it would be possible to watch live pictures from inside their bird box!! We were too late this time unfortunately, but it is a great idea.
The centre of Marlow is only five minutes by car, and is a lovely place to wander around, or if you want something a bit more energetic you can walk the Thames Path either towards Henley or down stream. Sue lent us a pair of binoculars (as we had forgotten ours) and we had some great views of the numerous red kites in the area.
Altogether it was a lovely stay with two very pleasant hosts. Thank you Sue and Paul, I wish our stay could have been longer!!

Stayed there recently while attending a wedding locally. Very clean and homely. Felt very welcomed and relaxed the whole stay. Bath robes provided and the usual condiments (tea, coffee, biscuits) as well as shampoo, etc in the bathroom. Hairdryer available and a TV in the room with DVD player and some DVDs to watch should you wish. Iron and ironing board available. Bathroom is shared but since I had the B&B to myself it didn't matter at all. Breakfast delicious with a wonderful view of the immaculately attended to garden whilst eating. Breakfast table is shared. Marlow town is a short drive away and I was without a car. Apparantly it can be walked in around half an hour but Sue kindly dropped me off in town in her car and I taxied back for £8. Would highly recommend.
