We were given room 71 which was absolutely beautiful and was on the ground floor with a balcony overlooking the weir. We also had our own entrance just off the car park which was very convenient and we experienced no banging doors or noise from staff etc.
A traditionally run hotel, ie turn down service offered in the evening, and the charming lady who looked after us in Reception was a delight, nothing was too much trouble and she was a credit to the Macdonald brand of hotels, which we love.
We had dinner and experienced the most tender and delicious fillet steak; breakfast was cooked beautifully to order.
There were silly niggles like several requests for a top up of Nescafe for the room and even for loo paper which ran out but we felt these things were trivial compared to what really matters, a beautifully clean hotel serving amazing food which oozed class but not overly pretentious ... we would love to return. Many thanks to the staff for an amazing two night break for my sister and myself.More
