“Beautiful Georgian house, lovingly restored, super comfortable, great location.”
Reviewed 18 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed here for 2 weeks at the beginning of June 16, 3 adults and one teen. The house is beautiful, full of history and historical references, super clean, tastefully decorated ( a rare thing in a holiday rentals) and the location is just perfect for the lakes and dales.

The owners, who are lovely has done a fantastic job in preserving this historical property to a really good standard, without shabby chic frills and bunting, the palette is limited to a few neutral colours and a pop of gorgeous blue or red here and there.

The beds are comfy and the linen is crisp and white, with a few pieces of vintage linen. I loved the window seats in bedrooms an dining rooms to catch a few pages of Jane Eyre when I could. I was tempted to draw the curtains Jayne Ayre style and spend the afternoon there reading.

Kitchen is delightful with all the necessary equipment, simple, contemporary but with vintage touches, all cleaning products are provided and eco friendly, I was so impressed by the kitchen cleaner I have already ordered some to use at home, it smells delicious.

An enormous bath sits comfortably in the very nice bathroom, complete with separate shower, vintage fittings and lovely exposed stone wall, a heated towel rail provides lovely warm towels to snuggle up in, all towels are provided and there were plenty of them.

The sitting room is muted and understated, a perfect relaxing environment with some lovely vintage furniture and original flooring. The TV was fine and free wifi worked well, mobile phone signal was excellent too.

A separate dining room provides a nice space to have meals and linger for a chat afterwards, or escape from the Euros to read a book! All the bedrooms were of a decent size even the smallest one had a double bed, which was comfy. The house is spacious and packed with lovely original features which haven't been spoiled by over renovation, high conservation is the motto here.

Externally there is a quite beautiful garden which is big enough for fun and games or eating out at the secluded table and chairs under the shad of a tree. A brook runs behind the garden wall and the sound of the water is really relaxing, a fabulous space. Behind the wall a little paths leads down to the river and beyond to a lovely walk across the fields.

We visited the local shop and tea room, both of which were delightful, friendly owners and good value. The nearby town of Kirkby Lonsdale provided all the provisions we needed and is lovely just to wander around, the fish and chip shop and the pizza restaurant (who do takeaways) were both good value and quality.

The lakes and dales are a short drive away in either direction, we visited Keswick, Windermere, Hawkeshead, Settle, Appleby, Carlisle and many other places, including the lovely Bronte Parsonage at Haworth, just to complete the Bronte experience. Haworth is worth a visit even is Bronte isn't your thing.

Sandra and her husband were there to meet us and provided some very useful information, the house was very clean, very well equipped and a pleasure to be in.

I would recommend this property to anyone.

“Stunning home from home”
Reviewed 9 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Stunning week spent at Bronte School House. Sandra has thought of everything to make for a perfect stay and was so helpful in her correspondence beforehand also, so that we even knew to bring slippers to keep our feet warm! It was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful, historic property. Best weeks sleep I have ever had.
Ideally located to visit many places in Lancashire, the Lakes and Yorkshire. The local shop is a veritable Aladdin's Cave, the local pubs are gems, the chippy in Kirkby Lonsdale is a blessing after a long day walking - we cannot wait to come back. Thank you so much for making our holiday so perfect XX

“Could have stayed another month!”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This was our first experience with Trip Advisor rentals and we were so pleased. The home had every comfort needed for a family of five. The location was conveniently off the A25 and a quick drive from a wonderful grocery store. The setting was beautiful. Sandra was very welcoming and made sure we had all we needed. The bathroom was surprisingly updated (hot showers after long treks with the sheep were a treat!) And the beds were - according to my five-year-old - "like marshmallows"
The area had so much to do. Long trails right outside the door, boating on Windermere, we even made it up to Hadrian's wall.
This was a perfect stay and we would love to go back.

“Beautiful cottage, very comfortable with everything you need!”
Reviewed 1 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The cottage was delightful with absolutely everything you need. The beds were very comfortable with good quality bed linen. The wood burning stove made the sitting room beautifully warm and cosy. The area is stunning with fabulous walks on the doorstep and excellent restauants - The Highwayman -Hipping Hall. The only small critisism is that we could hear the nearby road.

“Gorgeous, delightful, restored and homely!!”
Reviewed 30 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed at the Bronte School House for a week and had a wonderful time. It is a home from home and we felt very comfortable here. Attention to detail even on the small things. You can tell the owners have put 200% effort into making this cottage what it is today. Cosy living room, fantastic big bath, comfortable beds with crisp cotton bedding and lovely views of the hill sides including grazing sheep. The garden is a beautiful oasis, lovely table and chairs to sit out on a beautiful evening.... You can hear the babbling brook too. Parking isn't an issue as parking spaces within the grounds. The cottage has everything you would need for day to day living. I will be recommending this cottage to all my friends and family and more. Hoping to stay here again. We meet Sandra one of the owners, she is a very kind, friendly lady who goes the extra mile.
