a place full of charm. Such lovely warm and friendly volunteer staff, deeply knowledgeable, and kind. We had a shed tour too which was frankly awesome and a great behind the scenes insight. if you enjoy smaller calmer railways rich in story and heritage you should go for a visit.
We visited during a Model railway show which added a whole extra element for my son. they have a good deal of special events so look them up.
Thank you so much for your review and visit.
I will pass your comments onto our Shed tour team and look forward to seeing you again soon.
The staff (all volunteers) are friendly and welcoming. There are some extremely knowledgeable people there who can tell you the history and future plans of Kirkby Stephen East. Children love seeing the loco's and carriages. Barras the station cat may allow them to stroke him but he is often out and about.
There is a nice little shop which has a mix of items and quite a comprehensive model range.
Dear Steve thank you for your review and look forward to welcoming you again.
...brilliant - the three of us all loved this railway and museum. Lovely people who went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable,
Thank you for your visit and review. We look forward to welcoming you again. We will be running trains from Easter 2022 and have a Xmas Fayre on 4th December.
Run by enthusiastic volunteers - who obviously love the work they do there. Only small but Well worth a visit.
Thank you for your visit and kind review.Look forward to welcoming you again next year when we will be fully operational
As always you get a great welcome. Things have been difficult with Covid etc but starting to get back to normal. All the staff and volunteers have worked really hard while sticking to the regulations.
The shed tours are very informative whether you are an expert or just interested.
Thank you for your repeat visit and review.
Look forward to seeing you again soon
What a gem, great to see that so much of the best of the history of this country (its railways and the accompanying ingenuity and craftmanship) now has so much future potential to be appreciated
Thank you so much for your kind review and we are now open to the public again after the easing of lockdown restrictions. We are open on Sundays from 10am - 4pm with shed tours on the half hour. We are not currently running trains as we need to get our locomotives recertified. Please check our facebook and website for the latest news.
