We stayed at Eastshaw Guesthouse whilst collecting son from Durham University. The whole house was spotlessly clean. Mick and Henry the dog welcomed us and made us feel instantly at home. The bed was comfy, shower clean, breakfast choice amazing, can't decide whether the best bit was Mick's home made bread, or his speciality potato cakes. We tried a different bread every day and are still trying to decide which was the favourite.

Lovely views over the harbour and beach area.

Mick is a great source of local knowledge, whether it be restaurants in Seaham and Durham or how to extend the coastal walk and catch the train back from Hartlepool.

We will be back sometime during the next 3 years!

Stayed at St Cuthberts for 4 nights to attend a dog show at nearby Herrington Country Park. The cottage was very comfortable and well located in the wonderfully peaceful village of Dalton le Dale.Mick and Julie have done a great job on the cottage and everything you need is provided including an excellent welcome hamper complete with Mick's home made bread. Whilst the cottage was excellent for dogs and their owners it would be equally as good as a cosy retreat for a couple or for a family with children.

I have just returned from my 3rd visit to Eastshaw Guesthouse and once again the personal first class service provided by Mick & Julie was faultless.
The property is kept very clean and the beds are incredibly comfortable.
Mick's infamous breakfast were as tasty and as huge as I remembered and his homemade bread is too die for. My kids loved being so close to the beach and the easy access from Eastshaws back garden make the regular trips a breeze.
We will definately be returning again in the near future when we next visit our family in Seaham.
We have also previously used Mick's cottage in the nearby village and this is also great for those wanting the benefit of self catering facilities.

Room Tip: All rooms have great sea views so all rooms are great,

This was my second weeklong stay at Eastshaw Guesthouse. Mick goes above and beyond to provide a welcoming, comfortable, private and peaceful experience. He picked us up at the train station and baked homemade bread for our arrival. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and have luxury linens and spectacular views of the beach, town square and lighthouse. I can't forget to mention Henry the dog, Clinton the cat and the sweet bunnies hopping around the garden. The private living room has comfy furniture and a wood-burning fire. Mick set out wine and chocolate each afternoon. His breakfasts are made with top quality local ingredients, I especially appreciated the salmon and big bowl full of fresh fruit. Mick cheerfully provided advice on activities, directions and restaurants. He dropped us off at beaches and even offered us a ride home after touring a nearby town one day. He is warm and friendly and clearly loves what he does so you can't help but leave feeling like an old friend.

It's a privilege to have you come all the way from California to search for Seaham sea glass and sty at Eastshaw.

It was our pleasure to have you here. Happy hunting.

This was my first time in England and I have only stayed at a b&b once before. Upon arriving, we were greeted my Henry the friendly dog and the smell of fresh baked bread. You are treated like your family with a key of your own, fresh flowers on the table, tea and treats in your bedroom and my bedroom had the beautiful view of the sea. You get to pick from a wide range of freshly made foods for breakfast each morning and complementary wine at night. I am a bit of a shy person sometimes, but the stories Mick told and the friendliness about him made me feel like I was at home. Mick knew of all the great local restaurants and beaches, which made it very nice and helpful. I had the best vacation and would love to come back!

My first impression, upon walking into Eastshaw Guesthouse, is like I was coming home. Old world charm, quaint furnishings, a cozy fire and the smell of freshly baked bread greeted us upon arrival. The three bedrooms are extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. The front room, is perfect for curling up with a book in front of the fire. Mick is the ultimate host. Funny and charming and a great story teller, he seems to know exactly how to make you relax and feel at home. Great food, fresh flowers, treats, a glass of wine in the evening all added up to my very best vacation ever. Would I recommend Eastshaw Guesthouse? YES! In a heartbeat! It truly was my home, away from home.
Thanks Mick.

St Cuthbert's Cottage opens it's arms and wraps you up in it's aura of cosiness, comfort and calm. Owners Mick & Julie have lovingly restored this cottage and it shows in the standard and quality of the accommodation overall. Done with a modern touch but still holding a feel of the history and age that the cottage deserves. Our every need was catered for and the welcome pack was extremely welcoming, especially Mick's homemade bread which was just perfect. The outside space was delightful and as well looked after and thought out as the inside. A must visit in the first instance and an absolute must for a return.
