We've been here a few times over the years, always for a relaxing break, and have enjoyed it every time. This time was no different except that some areas of the spa are starting to look a little worn and need fixing (eg some of the taps/hoses have come off or don't work) because I expect perfection here, especially for the price. The room was fantastic and breakfast in our room excellent as always. We ate in the new blunos grill restaurant which was fabulous (see separate review re this) except for the spelling mistakes on the menu. Again, it's the attention to detail that's slipped a little here since we last visited.

Room Tip: Ask for one near to the spa.

My husband took me here for our first wedding anniversary.... It was a lovely surprise and even better with the spa treatments the staff are so friendly and helpful and very polite... They made us feel very special.... Yes it's expensive but you only get what you pay for.... The only thing I would say is that we ate in the sea grill restaurant our table was booked for 9pm and didn't get to our table till 9.30pm then waited a further 30 mins for our starter... The time Inbetween courses was abit to long but other than that food was amazingly good will def be returning again and would def recommend this hotel

Our stay at the Seaham Hotel fell flat in many regards. We received the wheelchair suite, and whilst you sat on the toilet it made a strange whirring sound. I do not understand the function of this, for disabled people or otherwise. Then the bathroom started to smell horrible, and we were alerted there was a sewage back up. The cleaning staff proceeded to come in and spray with heavy disinfectant, while also leaving a rag by my toothbrush! The next morning there was a horrible unpleasant mix of disinfectant and sewage, very poor. The dinner at the Ozone restaurant was frankly horrible, with poor execution of simple dishes. The breakfast next morning featured a 'seasonal' fruit plate with uneatable pineapple, and the only good fruit, grapes, had three on the plate! We would not be visiting again in the future.

This superb hotel had the most comfortable room (room 5) with sea views from all four windows. Soft bed, feather pillows and plenty of them. The Chef is a genious, the food in the main restaurant was a joy. The Serenity spa is lovely, with treatments and a gorgeous pool. The staff are exceedingly well trained and pleasant, bags carried up to your room. Fresh milk in fridge. Nice touches. The whole experience left us wanting to come back. You get what you pay for, and it is not cheap. But hey! we wanted to be pampered and we were. A really grown-up hotel !

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view. Room 5 is a corner junior suite. No noise whatsoever. Huge bathroom. Lifts av...

My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Seaham Hall hotel and Spa and experienced 24 hours of pure relaxation and indulgence. The staff were very professional and extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was immaculate and the attention to detail was very impressive. We enjoyed the spa facilities which were outstanding and there was always a member of staff on hand to offer any help or advice. We had lunch in the Ozone restaurant and our evening meal was in the Blunos Sea Grill. The food in both restaurants was delicious and the experience was enhanced by the understated luxury of our surroundings. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We stayed overnight at Seaham Hall Hotel following a wedding. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and special. Our Garden Suite was beautiful - spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing! We found all the staff to be helpful, courteous and very accommodating. The following day we were able to use the spa facilities and the Ozone restaurant which enabled our stay to last longer. We will remember this experience for a long time to come, and would love be able to repeat it in the future.

My fiancée and I stayed in one of the junior suites at Seaham Hall Hotel last weekend, and I can say we had an amazing time. The hotel itself is understated luxury, and the history of the place adds to its allure. The room was beautiful, the staff couldn't do enough and the food was sublime. We used the gorgeous spa facilities, and ended a magical day sipping champagne whilst in the outdoor hot tub as the sun set; this followed a delicious 3 course meal in the Ozone restaurant. The lovely hot weather was the cherry on the cake, but I would love to come back in the winter and incorporate a trip into Durham. Well done Seaham Hall, it's been truly magical.

Room Tip: They're all beautiful. It's for grown ups.
