Where to start? Room excellent. Spa excellent. Staff excellent. BUT We had booked for 2 night stay. First night we sat in the restaurant we had booked and waited and waited until we had to ask for a menu. When it came it was a lunch/snack menu. We were then told they didn't do dinner in that restaurant on a Tuesday night - despite taking our booking. We ended up in the other restaurant which was very nice but not what we had anticipated for our wedding anniversary - us all dressed up sitting amongst others in their dressing gowns from the Spa. We did let the hotel know we were not happy and got a free glass of prosecco with dinner the second night with a whisky after dessert. Not really my idea of saying sorry. At breakfast on second morning my husband had asked for smoked haddock with a poached egg. Presume chef was not pleased as fish was stinking, not fresh and egg hard. We felt we had complained enough and just left very disappointed and husband not feeling very well!!

I had such mixed feelings about this stay that's why its taken so long to review! Huge potential beautiful setting but I don't think the hotel has decided on its direction - either focus on Spa visits or romantic trips. It's all a bit mixed. Don't say just ask for anything not on the breakfast menu if you don't mean it! Wouldn't go back unless specifically for a spa break.

Room Tip: All rooms beautiful - particularly room 6

We stay here ever summer whilst visiting family and we have never been disappointed. I've traveled the world and coming home to a 5 star in the North East makes our trip. I can't recommend Seaham Hall enough.

We have just celebrated our wedding anniversary with a short break at Seaham Hall which was picturesque, deluxe and delightful. We were even given chocolates as a celebratory gift!. The room was spacious with a large screen TV and a comfy sofa and table. the large bathroom had everything you need including Elemis products and a cute duck for the bath. The towel rail was on constantly which was great for quickly drying your swimwear after your spa trips. The Spa was the best we have used and was never over crowded, we even used the hot tub in the rain and relaxed in the Zen room. The Ozone restaurant was fabulous, excellent food with friendly attentive staff and good value for money too. We didn't try the breakfasts as they were a bit on the expensive side for a light meal. We are planning next years trip now and we highly recommend a visit

Room Tip: The Junior suite on the first floor had a grand view of the garden.

My wife and I had superb a break at Seaham Hall. On arrival we were greeted by the wonderful staff who are by far the best I have ever had to meet anywhere in the world. We were made to feel very special. We had booked an overnight stay and we were very tempted to stay an extra night. The spa was fantastic and we had some treatments which left us completely chilled. We had ,lunch in the spa and evening meal in the main hotel, which was really lovely. The diet will have to wait!!! The room was spotless and huge with windows on 2 sides, one of which viewed into the gardens. It is a beautiful hotel, a real gem on the north east coast. I would recommend the hotel...... Go on you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you can get a garden room the better

Had an overnight stop at Seaham Hall, one of our favourite hotels. We stayed in The Penthouse room which was huge with an enormous bedroom, lounge and bathroom (plus a separate cloakroom and study!),the kids thought it was the most amazing place. Super comfortable beds and high quality toiletries.

Spa is just superb with probably the best facilities you will find - definitely the warmest pool.

Dinner and breakfast in the new refurbished dining room were excellent.

All the staff were super helpful, charming and professional.

My wife and I spent two nights in an executive suite. From the start, staff could not do enough for us. Very pleasant and helpful people, who took time to stop and talk, and ask if we needed any help or guidance (thank you Davina for taking the time to show us round the spa). The suite was beautiful, the facilities were great, lovely food, (the black pudding at breakfast possibly the best I have ever tasted), and excellent, pleasant, service throughout. Where did you find so many nice people?
We will be back, and we can recommend it to anyone looking for a very comfortable relaxing break..

Room Tip: The executive suite at room 8 was superb.
