“They have listened to Tripadvisor!”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

A while ago I complained that this restuarant (excellent in many ways) disappointed in the range of its menu. How things have improved! I have recently enjoyed fresh local crab, turbot, lamb in Marsala sauce, veal chops, halibut and other very welcome "specials" all cooked perfectly by its owner-chef Massimo. It is now not only pleasant and convenient but well worth a special trip for the best food in the area.

“Great food at great prices!”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

I've been here on numerous occasions and each time the food and service has been fantastic.

I've been as a girly group of 8, with the grandparents, parents and as a couple. The food is beautiful and the service is great.

“AMAZING! We are definitely going back”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Booked a room at their accomodation at very short notice (accomodation will get a separate review) and decided to have Saturday dinner here. Choosing starter and main took a while, since there was so much on offer and it all looked fantastic. The place was packed (usually a good indication) yet our table for two still felt intimate. Service from all the staff was incredibly swift yet non-intrusive. Special mention to Raph for being wonderful!
I decided on the seared scallops and my husband went for the calamari; both were done to perfection. Calamari is so often overcooked into rubbery rings, but not so here! Mains were Rib-eye rose veal for John and Chicken dolcelatte for me. we exchanged tastes, for fair comparison - both were exquisite.
For afters, we shared a very light cheesecake with fruit and coulis; this was more like a lemon posset in cheesecake form. Perfect after the heavier main meals. Accompanying wines were modestly priced, yet flavoursome. a complimetary lemoncillo was offered with the bill, which came to a very reasonable sum.
Many people might wonder why dine in Seaham when Newcastle adn Sunderland are so close? Amazing food, exceptional service, and good atmosphere at Massimo's is the answer. To top it off, the proximity of the lovely seafront lest one enjoy a post-meal walk.

“what a surprise”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Visited in April 2014 and could not believe the quality of the food. Service was good surroundings nice and sea views should you be lucky enough to get one of those tables. Don't be fooled by the appearance from the outside, this was a quality meal.

“Third visit and definitely not the last”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

What a place, a 30 second walk to Seaham's stunning cliff tops and 5 minutes from the beach. The deli offers a vast menu and you don't have to part with much to get a deliciously filling meal. Plenty of classic Italian dishes to choose from as well as some interesting specials that I'm yet to try. Brilliant service from easy going, good natured staff and a lovely set of owners. I will definitely be returning to try out the restaurant as I'm sure it will be as good if not better.
