great experience, great service, fantastic food, they cater for children and nothing is too much trouble for them, the guy frying could smile a bit more because he could put people off the way he stares but we ignore that because the food and service are soooooo good

Me and a friend decided to get a take out from here, but when looking at the queue it looked as though it was going to take some time to be served. So we opted to dine in. For the extra pound or so, it was well worth it.

I decided to opt for scampi for a change and it was fantastic. The chunks of langoustine were beautifully cooked (and a fair good size). The chips were very nice. Not greasy. Just lovely good chippy food.

In the time we had eaten our lunch the people in front of us had just been served so it is worth dining in if there is a queue!

My mother and I were travelling to the theatre in Sunderland and decided to stop for fish and chips on the way. We arrived, were seated and ordered all reasonably quickly but after bringing our drinks we were left sitting for over twenty minutes, we were sitting close to the counter and so could see that the take away queue was moving quite quickly but the other people sitting around us didn't seem to be being served either. We asked the young server clearing a table near ours and were assured that ours were next, then we sat and watched while more take aways were served and plates sat on top of the counter, there seemed to be no hurry to get any food on our plates.

After almost a further ten minutes (half an hour after ordering) there was still no sign of our food and so, now worried that we would be late to the theatre, we asked if it would be possible to have them to take away instead. This resulted in much eye rolling, huffing and puffing and general stroppy-ness from the woman behind the counter, obviously someone missed the lesson on how to speak to customers at charm school. At no point did anyone apologise for the incredibly long wait - half an hour might be bearable at a proper restaurant cooking a proper meal but not for a chippy!

The fish itself was okay, not the worst I've had but not the best by far, the chips were mediocre at best, but it was the terrible service that really shocked!

Prepare to queue, fish is tasty with light batter but chips are decidedly average, maybe we are spoilt as we have better near home. We did not eat in the restaurant but given the surrounding area might be an idea for future customers to consider. Seaham is really run down so didn't stay for long. Approx £25 for fish, chips & peas for four.
