“Lovely experience”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

visited after a recommendation. Beautiful drive up to hotel, stunning gardens. Plenty space and facilities for the children to play and run about. The staff were helpful and guided us to the conservatory restaurant, we had lovely views of the garden.  The afternoon tea was delicious with a good choice of sandwiches, cakes etc. We will definitely be having a return visit. The restaurant manager Paulo and his staff were very efficient  and the service was first class. Thank you and you staff for the delightful experience.

Just stopped by to enjoy the stunning surroundings. The drive towards the hotel was lovely, the gardens were a picture. Having been welcomed by the staff I was guided to the lounge and ordered some coffee, the service was fantastic and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Being tea time I decided to have something to eat. The restaurant manager offered to show me to the Conservatory, I was shown to a very nice table with lovely views of the garden. I was given a menu. There was a varied and wide choice of food which pleased me. My food was delivered promptly and it was delicious. The service once again was excellent and was very good value for money. Thank you to the restaurant manager Paulo and his lovely staff for a most enjoyable visit. I would definitely visit again.

It seems that you've also been smitten by the most wonderful surrounding and facilities here at the Ickworth.
You just can't help admire the buildings and the estate and it certainly is the place if you would just like to 'take tea'.
Paolo and his team have read your comments and wish to be associated with my thanks for you taking time to say how much you enjoyed your visit.
I see you are from Glasgow but we hope that next time you are in East Anglia you are able to pay a visit.
All the very best.

Just returned from 3 nights at the very grand Ickworth and had the most amazing time - a group of 7 with 20 month old busy toddler plus grandparents.

There is something for everyone and toddlers are particularly well catered for in every way, with a good selection of generous dishes at high tea, a proper supervised crèche downstairs, play area in the main lounge, cinema playing a kiddy friendly movie at 6, babysitters or free baby listening, outdoor play area with trampoline, slides, swings, play house, giant Connect 4, a box of teddy bears and books near reception etc....we knew we were on to something good when we saw the line up of wellies in every size for all to use at the front door.

The hotel and national trust building are set in amazing grounds with fantastic views and sheep, theres a lovely warm pool 1.4m though so you need to properly supervise little ones, food was very good (lovely cream teas), served in a gorgeous conservatory, restaurant or the very comfy high ceilinged lounge areas heavily scented with fresh lilies, spotlessly clean everywhere, good spa treatments (slightly let down by trying to sell goods at the end), free bikes and helmets for all, sports equipment eg croquet, tennis etc. Cant recommend it enough.

The staff were relaxed and lovely during the day with little one (offering crayons etc without being asked) and more professional in the evening when we were having our adult time, so we are already looking at other beautiful looking places in the luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk group.

Cant wait!

We were given an 'afternoon tea' experience as a Christmas present - it certainly was an experience - not to be repeated!. Doorstop sandwiches made with cheap bread, stale solid cakes, microwaved scones - warm solid insides and dry chewy outsides and anaemic meringues filled with jam rather than soft fruit - a total Fawlty Towers experience. The waitresses were very pleasant and I think rather embarrassed by the food they had to serve - it is always v unfair that they are the ones who have to deal with the chefs very poor performance. The best thing was the pot of v good afternoon blend tea. I feel v sorry for those who kindly give a gift like this in good faith and are hopeful that it would be an enjoyable occasion for the recipients.

Our family had loads of fun making memories here. The indoor pool is just in another building--but still perfect to burn off the kids' energy! There were muddy puddles, trees, trails, sheep, bike riding, creche, babysitting, room service...we utilized it all. Make sure to bring wellies and layers...you're sure to come back with some mud on but that's the fun of it I think. The parking is muddy so keep the luggage light and easy to carry/roll. The hotel is so interesting. A fun adventure.

Room Tip: Each room has it's own name instead of a number. Rooms in front will have more noise b/c views...

Hello Jennifer

It seems that you managed to make the most of Ickworth and it's facilities whatever the weather. We are so pleased that you and your family had a great time, which is what it's all about.

Let's hope you can make it back when it's a little warmer, the estate takes on a different view.

Very best wishes

Fabulous hotel, lovely friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. Dinner in the adult only restaurant was fabulous! Good choice of wines and relaxing atmosphere. The grounds are certainly worth taking walk or cycle round. Bikes available were of all sized and the paths were well marked. We'll be back there for sure...The Restaurant Manager was friendly and took time to get to know us on our stay.

Room Tip: Any room will be quiet there as it's so far from the road, maybe a little noise from the gravel...

We were impressed by the appearance of the hotel as we drove up to it straight away.

We were also pleasantly wowed by the fact that we were treated as visiting VIP's from the moment we set foot into into the hotel.

Our room was wonderful - large, light, wonderful view and comfy bed. We had the best night's sleep we have had in ages. The room and bathroom (with huge bath) were historically tastefully decorated.

Evening coffee and biscuits in the drawing room were a wonderful experience, so incredibly relaxing. Breakfast in the conservatory, well what can I say...absolutely marvelous and very, very tasty.

The grounds of the hotel and NT site are outstanding and well maintained. It is an added bonus that you have free day and night access to the NT site. The site gardens are amazing.

We will definitely return soon!

Thank you for an outstanding break.
