“Very comfortable small hotel in a lovely village”
Reviewed 6 May 2012 via mobile

Lovely small hotel in this stunning village. The room was very nicely appointed if quite small and the en-suite was top notch. The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner and there was a good selection of Adnams real ale. The service was good throughout and we will certainly return.

We have stayed at the White Horse twice a year for the last five years. We spent two nights 2nd and 3rd May, we had very high expctations of Francis and the improvements he has made since taking over, these expectaions were far exceeded in every way.The food wonderful staff and atention to detail are superb, the newly refurbished bar and rece4ption are stylish understated elegance. We are looking forward to staying again in early October

Room Tip: We always stay in Room 1 as the views are amazing, most expensive but well worth it

Thats a review that we will have to work hard to live up to ! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience . As a guest who has been staying at the White Horse so regularly over the years it is especially gratifying to hear that you feel we have managed to make improvements to this iconic North Norfolk landmark in the short time we have been here. Now an Admans house, the White Horse continues to serve good quality food and drink in the bar and patio garden. Our room (no 10) was fine and well appointed with its own street entrance. Francis, the manager, was a jolly host and we were lucky to be there when Toni Warne of The Voice fame was performing in the bar. Just a shame the weather was very wet but we still had a very enjoyable mid week break at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Room 10 is a family room with a queen size bed and two bunk beds. It has a separate lounge with two...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent visit to the White Horse. Its much easier to be motivated to post a review if everything has not been as you expected so we are particularly grateful when a guest chooses to do so having had a lovely stay. Naturally we are delighted to hear the food was of good quality and that your room was fine and well . It was indeed a lovely evening when Toni performed and it was nt hard for the team to be jolly given the great atmosphere she created in the bar - we are watching her progress on The Voice keenly and hope she continues to do well. Thanks again , it really means a lot to the team to know their efforts have been worthwhile.

Had quite a pleasant evening with friends. Comfy surroundings, with pleasant and attentive staff. The food and drink was "okay" but not good value for money. When spending over £20 on a steak and chips I expect the mother of all steaks. Extra chips for £5.....NO WAY, that's daylight robbery. Unhappily the White Horse has gone the same way as most of Blakeney, too up-market and forgetting the locals don't have massive bonuses in their monthly pay packets. Shame, I used to frequent the pub a lot a few years ago, now I can't afford to.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent visit to the White Horse. A pleasant evening with comfy surroundings and attentive staff is great feedback to hear. It would be fair to say we do not operate at the cheaper end of the market however we believe our prices to be competitive with similar establishments in the area and reflect the sourcing of the best local ingredients rather than those which could be sold more cheaply but would be of lesser quality and have little provenance . The average price of a main course on the current menu is £14.50 which we believe is an accessible price point for both local guests and those further afield. The steak you refer to was on our specials menu and we feel is a fair price for a 10 oz steak and a dining experience with attentive service. We hope you will feel you can frequent the White Horse again in the future. Thanks Again

My wife and I and four children 2yrs, 4yrs, 9 yrs and 14 year old were renting a great cottage "Toad Hall" cottage from The Blakeney Cottage Company, also great.

We booked a meal at The White Horse very early which they kindly allowed us to do although they were otherwise full.

It was a treat to go out in the evening to a good pub, but my wife and I were very surprised to find that everything that was cooked and presented was really of top restaurant quality. The food was mouth watering and the children's food was delicious. The service was excellent, I cannot fault it, it was great.

It was the last night of our week long holiday and I am very glad they could squeeze us in.

Check in for our 1 night stay was friendly and efficient. It was good to be offered a jug of fresh milk.

Room 9 was a pleasant room with a comfortable bed and a good view of the marshes. The bathroom was a good size with beautifully large soft towels and an excellent power shower. It was disappointing though that the towel rail was not switched on and the mould round the bath sealant should have been removed. We mentioned that the towel rail was not switched on early in the evening and again when we checked out, when we were told that room 9 was on a separate boiler and it had probably not been switched on.

The assortment of bent metal hangers in the wardrobe detracted from the overall quality of the bedroom.

We had dinner in the restaurant and although we enjoyed our meal, felt that although the staff were very willing, the service was a little haphazard and disorganised.

Breakfast was again very enjoyable. Why though do the breakfast menus need to have coffee cup stains on them? In this day and age it should be easy enough to print a new one.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but felt that the management was rather resting on it’s laurels and that if the high quality it purveyed in it’s website is to be maintained then more management supervision is required.

Thank you for taking the time to post a treview following your recent visit to the White Horse. Naturally were were pleased you found so many positives during your stay - A friendly welcome , comfortable bed , large soft towels , and enjoyable meals at both dinner and breakfast . Whilst the vast majority of your stay would seem to have been exactly what we would have wanted you to experience the difference between good and great is often the detail and we will use your feedback positively to ensure improvements are made in some of the smaller areas in which we did nt quite get it 100% right. If we were resting on our laurels this site would be of little interest to us . It is precisely because we want to continue to improve that guest feedback is so important to us . We would encourage guests to always make us aware at the time if something is not as it should be .. providing it is 'legal and reasonable ' we will always do our best to rectify if it is within our power to do so. Thanks again and hope to see you back in Blakeney again soon.

Had a fabulous evening on Wednesday 18th. We ate in the bar area as Toni Warne was singing. My friend and I both had the steak, one rare and one medium rare. They were both perfect (its been a long time since I've had such a good steak) The staff all worked very hard to make the evening so good. The atmosphere was brilliant, we even got up and danced ! Looking forward to my next visit, will take my husband next time.
