“Owner seemed entitled and rude”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Pros: good standard of furnishings, bed, bathroom etc. female owner very friendly, most staff were friendly, food was decent, building was charming
Cons: male owner tried to tell us when to eat and got sarcastic, combatative, and rude when we didn't agree with the time he allocated to us. We ended up feeling unwelcome and awkward for wanting to eat to our own schedule. The bedroom had a fire exit door that actually led to another guests bathroom, when we went to bed we heard that guest going to the toilet (as in heard all details) and then having a chat with his (we assume) wife as she went to the shower, so sound proofing was poor.
Minor con: The grounds and dock are not really that big or as pleasant as they seem in the photos

Wow! My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here in the 'Chanterelle' Suite for a relaxing Easter weekend away from life's hustle and bustle.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay. The incredibly spacious room with luxuriously comfortable bed was exactly what we needed to ensure we relaxed to the maximum.

From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and the whole place has a wonderful atmosphere which instantly makes you feel relaxed.

Where do you even begin when describing the food? It really is top notch. Perfection describes my wife and my meals. Breakfast is also just right, a great full English and fresh bread and pastries to boot. It set us up perfectly for the day.

We also had the pleasure of attending a function in the new events centre. WOW! The owners have thought of everything, what a great place to host an event. If we weren't already married, it would definitely be our first choice.

To summarise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was simply faultless.
You will love this place!

This hotel has been refurbished to a very good standard where client comfort and satisfaction is their first priority.
The current building project, a dedicated wedding venue is very close to completion and looks to be to a very high standard.
We spent 4 nights at this hotel situated in Coltishal in a quiet secluded location bordering the Norfolk Broads.
The room was very spacious with large walk in shower and a sitting area complete with 2 comfortable chairs and suitable table. The room also had french doors onto a paved and railed private patioo area. Sadly the area was in need of a good clean and attention to the planters.
The breakfast very good with an adequate cold bar and cooked to order breakfasts from a good menu. also the bread is made and baked on the premises, a real treat.
James and Anna set very high standards both in selecting locally sourced provisions and in the preparation of the fare offered.
The staff are open friendly and nothing is too much bother for them in making your stay very enjoyable. They also offer a professional standard of service in any task undertaken.
In time I am of the opinion that this will become one of the premier venues in this area.
With the owners eye to detail this will be easily achievable.

We stayed for three nights in April,You would be hard pressed to find fault with the food, hotel or staff ,who are helpful, efficient and friendly.
We stayed in the Damson room being the only one available ,we told it was the smallest room but it was fine ,the décor perfect with a great comfortable bed.
A perfect short break.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Norfolk Mead Hotel. We stayed in the Crab Apple apartment with our dog. The place was very modern, clean and relaxing. The grounds were beautiful. Food was amazing both at breakfast and dinner time. All staff very friendly and happy to help. We would love to stay here again!

We have no idea why some people have recently slated this hotel. We stayed during the building work and it did not interfere with our stay what-so-ever ! No noise, no trucks, in fact it was hardly noticeable. People are talking rubbish. The room we had, Jasmine, was virtually perfect. Well presented with lovely linen, ground coffee and fresh milk in a fridge on the landing 24/7, a really nice touch. The en-Suite was fab with The White Co. toiletries, home made brownies and a complimentary glass of fizz when we arrived. The food was first class as was the service at the bar, restaurant and reception. Bar prices very good too unlike many inflated prices at other hotels. All in all, a very nice relaxing stay. We WILL return here and recommend it to our family and friends. The only gripe for me (not my wife though) was the bed. A good size but the matress was "dippy" both sides and well used so I struggled to get a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Jasmine in the main building

Stayed recently on business for one night - that was certainly enough!
Half of the grounds are currently given over to a building site with accompanying noises and chaos.
The room I had (£155 B & B) only had a shower which was in a bathroom that would make a telephone kiosk seem spacious. Pretentious- yes, value for money - no.

I thought I would reply so Trip Advisor users get a fair, balanced response to this inaccurate review.

Firstly the building works do not take half the land as suggested, it is in our walled garden (which is approximately 1 acre), away from the main hotel and is only operational between 08:30-16:00 and not at weekends. I would also like everyone to know the work will BE FINISHED on Friday 18th April - (and thank you to everyone over the past 5 months for their patience - we have only had 2 very minor negative comments from the noise since the build started which says a lot I believe to how we have managed the exciting new venture..)

Mr Fussysod (as you nickname yourself) was paying £135.00 for dinner, bed and breakfast and not £155.00 for bed and breakfast as suggested. If you were not happy with the room why did you not say anything on check in or check out - we would have been more than happy to change you (and we are more than happy to do this if at all possible on a general basis).

I see there is no mention of the food, service, ambience, whilst at the hotel - the things most guests are interested in.

We are more than happy to accept constructive criticism when appropriate - in fact this often makes us a better place - but when things are put on websites that are factually wrong that is unfair.

However judging by the 6 reviews you have done so far - (3 average and 3 poor) it looks as though no hotel is good enough for you Mr 'Fussysod'
