“Quirky & Traditional with all Mod Cons”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Booked the Duke's Head because of it's central position in the Town. All the staff were pleasant & smart. The ambience suited the old building. Our bedroom in the original old block did not disappoint. Although the high quality upgrade was apparent, our room still had a 'traditional' feel. (high ceiling & even a sloping floor!) The bathroom was spacious, modern with good lighting & plenty of shelf space. The new sash windows opened top & bottom easily & provided good ventilation. The décor was traditional with a modern touch. Our dining experience was perfect & once again the staff excelled.
From our discussions with 'the locals' It seems the 'Dukes Head' in previous years did not get a good press. We can now say that following the extensive renovation & new management, this hotel can be recommended without reservation.

Room Tip: Rooms in original building - no lift so if mobility is a problem rear more modern rooms may be bette...

The Duke's Head has a most imposing powder blue and white front and a modern multi-storey bedroom block at the back. The transition from old to new inside is not apparent and hotel had a well cared for feel about it. I was on a room-only rate for one night so I can't comment on the food. The bedroom had everything I would want. Some people might prefer a bath and it seems that few rooms have one.

Room Tip: If you'd like a bath, you'd need to specify it when booking.

We have just enjoyed a second weekend away staying at this great hotel. The staff are excellent polite and very attentive. The food was again lovely and service fabulous. The dining room was rather hot when we stayed and I should think if we have a hot summer again this may cause an uncomfortable visit to the dining room. The poor staff were looking very hot but still served all guests with a smile and provided a good service.

Our room was very comfortable nicely decorated the location was great right in the centre of town with ample parking space.

Yet again a great weekend away at a lovely hotel !!

Dear Tim270

Thank you for posting a review on Trip Advisor. I was delighted to read that you had thoroughly enjoyed your second visit to the hotel, and I sincerely hope there will be many more.

Your comments regarding the dining room have been passed on to our property department, who will look at installing air conditioning at some time which will make a real difference, especially if we have a good summer like last year.

Once again, thank you for your review.

Kindest regards

We spent last weekend in King's Lynn, staying two nights at The Legacy Duke's Head Hotel.

The immediate stand out feature here is the staff. Everybody was delighful to deal with and went out of their way to deliver amazing service. From check-in to check-out, breakfast to dinner, afternoon tea to late night drinks, every member of staff we encountered was polite, courteous and helpful. Customer service can make or break a holiday and the Duke's Head delivers great service in spades.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Wifi is available throughout the entire hotel, is free and works perfectly whenever you need it (most places I've come across in the UK can only ever seem to tick two of those three boxes for some reason).

Breakfast is a delightful buffet served in a nice, open and well-lit room right at the front of the hotel. We had dinner at the hotel on our first night and the food was stunning! I can't recommend the Duo of Lamb highly enough. Cream Tea is served of an afternoon in a beautiful sitting room.

The hotel is situated in the centre of King's Lynn and makes strolling about town a breeze. King's Lynn is a beautiful little place. The park made for a stunning stroll, a thousand shades of green it seemed! I recommend a picnic if you'll be there over spring or summer!

All in all, a great stay at the Duke's Head and we'll be back for sure.

First time in Kings Lynn, travel zoo offer thought we would give it a go, could not have been more pleased with it, MOST IMPORTANT go to the back of hotel to park car the barrier lifts auto to let you in, you wont get out without code from front desk. Now to the hotel, receptionist very helpful, room excellent if you wanted heating rads turned on and off, cream tea very good , evening meal excellent, breakfast was self service good quality items could not fault, all staff very friendly, cannot fault ,would go again.

Room Tip: Room No 1 up a side street nice and QUIET.
