“Refurb...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2013

We stayed here because it was cheap and an ideal location, staff were lovely, arriving in the room everything looked good and the tv worked which was good. Then we started to hear banging which is when we realised the hotel was going through a refurb that we weren't made aware of on booking or on check in. The. Next thing we noticed was all of the furniture was placed and cut to cover all the plug sockets. There was one exposed socket which was too close to the dressing table so my phone charger wouldn't fit in...disappointing. The shower was hot and wet which is all I was really bothered about at this stage as it was a scorcher of a day. We went down to the pub and had to wait 10 minutes to be served as the bar man was no where to be seen, finally we got our drinks and they were reasonably priced. We didn't go for the dinner or breakfast as had reservations at a place in town but the really friendly lady on reception was nice enough to call us a taxi. Was fairly cheap to get in and out of town as not too far away and considering the hotel was situated by busy roads it was fairly quiet. The bed was comfy and the departure was simple which was a plus. We did find that the whole hotel could do with a good dust and a lick of paint plus a few new carpets wouldn't go a miss. Overall, not a horrendous stay but could of been better.

We found the hotel on late rooms.com and paid £39.50 for a Friday night stay. The receptionist at check in was very good. We were allocated a ground floor room. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The carpet however, was extremely worn out and made the room look very shabby. The bed was huge and comfortable, the TV worked. Tea and coffee making facilities available in the room. Shower was very good - powerful and not a pointless dribble like some places. Bathroom was very clean. Overnight there was no noise and it was very peaceful. On the whole, I would recommend this hotel and it's a great base for exploring Norfolk. Breakfast was £10 a head if pre booked. We didn't bother with the food at the hotel though so can't comment on quality of this. We will stay here again.

e booked in here for a two night stop. I half booked on line and completed via phone. The manageress was super-helpful and managed to sort us out with the online price – a good omen.
I am disabled but they don’t have disabled facilities as such. On their confirmation they do not advise that there are disabled parking spaces at the front of the hotel, so we trekked our bags from the main car park, unnecessary agro to start with.
Reception area is OK but stuffy. The reception staff were excellent; they could not have been more helpful.
The trek to our room was horrendous, so many fire doors to open, and with crutches very tiring.
Carpets all the way are heavily stained as they were in our room.
Room was basic but fair for the price, everything one needed was provided. The window in the room was difficult to open.
The beds (twin) were excellent, I seldom sleep well in hotel rooms, here was fine - a good night’s sleep.
Breakfast was a real trial, the food quality was good but the self service was a mess and took ages to sort out. Luckily no more than three couples arrived at a time, any more than that would have been chaos, a little more attention to the ergonomic layout would do wonders and the staff really do need to be on the ball to sort out the queries that are raised by each and every couple. Warning look out for the toaster, it takes ages and you have to eject the toast by hand – oh the coffee is terrible, it is instant in sachets, yuck, stick to the tea which was fine.
We won’t be revisiting

Room Tip: If you are disabled, ask for a downstairs room, it won't be offered

My partner and I were on a business trip to East Anglia and stopped here for one night . This is a very clean and comfortable hotel great location just off the A12 . A good nights sleep (no traffic noise ) and friendly staff . Would recommend this hotel, and will be using it again in the near future .

Quality Hotel, Kings Lynn
Our first impressions weren’t good. We could see the hotel but couldn’t find how to get there from the main roundabout, a sign would have been great. It wasn’t off the A47, the A10, so once more round the roundabout and the only one left was to the industrial estate, not a good omen.
We saw no entrance and no signs so continued to find somewhere if needed to turn round. Round the corner into the industrial park and still no signs for entrance or a sign to the hotel. It didn’t look as though it would be off the industrial park so decided to turn round in a driveway, and as we did we noticed a gateway with the hotel sign on it, they obviously don’t want people to find it we thought. One or two signs would work wonders.
As you go up the hotel driveway it looks quite good. We parked and made our way to reception and saw two signs saying don’t leave valuables in the car. It would be daft to leave any valuables on show when leaving your car, but it was slightly worrying to see 2 signs between the car park and reception. You can’t say you weren’t warned. The hotel inside is clean, light and has a slightly dated look, but fine. We had booked in for two nights. We were advised that breakfast was £7:50 each or two for £15, I thought this was a 3 star hotel, not luxury, don’t they compare prices with other places. It’s much cheaper in local restaurants where we used. We over heard other guests saying the same, and that they would walk to the nearest places and get a taxi back. Don’t the hotel twig they are losing business?
Our room was similar to the hotel, light, airy, and dated. What do you expect for a 3 star hotel. We did find the TV position funny, it’s sat on top of a half size wardrobe, but when in bed it doesn’t always change channel unless you raise your arm fully. I take tablets and forgot to get some bottled water; the hotel had some so I said I would have two bottles, better than tap water to drink as well. Then I got a shock, £3:50 each, £7 quid for two, was I in London by mistake, I wanted to drink it not save it for an investment, what a rip off, spring water or not.
The hotel hosts weddings and we had some disturbance two nights but the functions ended around midnight so you can’t complain at that. We did say to the hotel about parking though, as a guest of the hotel arriving late back one evening there was no parking due to the wedding or party at the hotel. In general the food prices put us off eating at the hotel as there are several places fairly close as we said much cheaper and more inviting, so we can’t comment about the food in the restaurant. The price of the water put us off trying. Starters were advertised at £4:50 for soup with most around £6:95; main courses between £9:95 and £13:95 except for steaks which were dearer; and sweets/puddings around £4:95 each. Don’t know about drink prices either. The people we spoke to all suggested eating at the local Tesco, Sainsbury’s or other food outlets at the retail park a short distance away.
One daft thing I found. I like coffee and plenty of it. In the room there was 6 or 7 coffee sachets, great I thought, suits me fine. I had used them the first night and next morning before we went out. Not to worry they would get replaced I thought when the room was done. No, as we didn’t need the towels changed, the bed was made but no coffee replaced. Next morning we put the tab out saying we wanted our room done. Next day it was fully done, more coffee great, bed made and towels replaced, but the towels were changed even though we hung them up as the notice says to avoid being changed. You guessed what happened the next day.
We enjoyed our stay and would visit again if staying in the area, but would look more closely at other accommodation in the area. We had chosen this hotel as it says it was off the A47 easy to find as we knew we would arrive late the first night.
We would say the hotel is a 3 star that is overdue for a makeover, but that probably put it in our price range, and according to locals it used to be a Ramada Hotel so it obviously has changed over the years.

Room Tip: Choose one away from the reception to avoid noise from parties and weddings, not they go on late for...

as a stop over a reasonable hotel, but to my my mind slightly overpriced, but that could be the area.
The hotel surfaces etc were clean but the hotel does need a refurb, the carpets were very stained in the main reception areas and my room chairs had very dodgy stains on them!
Having said all that, the staff were lovely, very friendly and polite.
Food was basic but beutiffuly cooked and presented. A typical rep hotel, not one for a family holiday.

We were treated to this break by my brother and his wife and we chose to go to this hotel,we were glad we did. We found it was very good and we were informed ir is due to go under refurbishment shortly which can improve only improve the already good quality. We would definately go to this venue again. The grounds were very spacious and despite being on the edge of an industrial estate and close to a busy roundabout it was very quite. We had a couple of friends from Aylesham in Norfolk join us for dinner on our first evening, which they thoroughly enjoyed,my wife also enjoyed her meal, but my choice of vegetarian meal was not too good, but the breakfasts were excellent.

Dear Anthony L,
I was delighted to read your comments about your enjoyable stay with us. I have noted your comment concerning the vegetarian meal and ahve asked the Head Chef to review the offers that we have in place.
The refurbishment programme had already commenced at the time of your stay, but we have planned it so that there is minumum disruption to the guests so you may not have noticed the work going on.
I do hope that you may choose to stay with us again on the next occasion that you visit Norfolk.

Regards
