“Another good overnight stay”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

Stayed overnight with a coach party on 2 separate dates in 2013 whilst visiting Thursford Christmas Spectacular. Situated in the heart of this old town the 15th century hotel was well appointed with friendly staff, warm welcome and comfortable rooms many of which have been refurbished. The breakfast was certainly ample for all our needs and the dinner equally as appetising.
It is a distance from Thursford however I would recommend the hotel for a sight seeing holiday around Norfolk.

We enjoyed a four night break, with delicious, well presented food, and friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is well situated in this very interesting town. Unfortunately, on our second day the toilet seat sheared off and we had to change rooms. Sadly also, on two of the days we were there, our room was not made up or cleaned. In spite of this we might stay there again.

Lovely old fashioned hotel with loads of charm and character with very friendly staff. We had a great lunch and breakfast - large varied menu and great quality food. Atmosphere was good in both the bar and restaurant. The room was large and well equiped incl iron and ironing board, hairdrier, tea and coffee facilities and nice bathroom accessories. Thanks all for a lovely stay.

We found the Bell Inn very comfortable and welcoming. The room was large and well equipped and warm,we enjoyed looking out over the old town and church. the staff were very friendly and helpful, The food was very good and the lovely breakfasts set us up for the day. We found Thetford interesting and the people in particular at the Dads Army Museum very helpful and informative. The only disconcerting thing were the number of Eastern Europeans who congregated in groups in the day time, drinking in public areas even in the old priory area were drinking alcohol was expressly forbidden. Also we were disturbed at night by these people shouting as they went by the hotel. All in all though we were very pleased with our visit to The Bell and Thetford and would certainly go again.

Room Tip: Our room was in the old part of the hotel, don't know about rooms in the other newer area.

I let the hotel know it was a special occaision and we were given a souless room near the main road and were kept awake by people out side our room shouting. The food was a let down, the starter was not available and the main course was of very poor quality.A customer was swearing loudly on his mobile and after nearly 10 mins i remonstrated with him and he stopped swearing but it spoilt the evening, the staff seemed oblivios to his behavior.I made my comments known to the reception and her reply was" Thank you I will pass on your remarks" we will not be going back.

Room Tip: rooms near the river might be quieter

Thank you for taking the time to put your comments online. We are very sorry to hear that you and your wife did not enjoy your stay at the Hotel. Although we are right in the town centre I do apologise for the language that the other customers used around you and passing your room.

We at the Bell are very sorry if you feel that we did not pay attention to your wife’s birthday but our guests that book and pay for the up grade to our superior rooms come first so if one was not available it would not have been able to give you a complimentary upgrade.

I hope this has not put you off returning to the Bell Hotel

I stayed in this hotel and ate dinner here in the night that I checked in. The food was tasty and such good value that I had to pinch myself!

The rooms are big, slightly dated but clean and the beds are comfortable

The service we received from reception and specifically when we were served at dinner and breakfast was very impressive!

I couldn't wait to write the review (haven't even checked out yet)

Go and stay (or if you're a local, go and eat)

Rooms good standard beds out of this world. Some of baths are a little small . Stayed here for three weeks bar staff and restraunt staff couldnt do more for you except a little grumpy blond restraunt worker. Bar man tim makes you feel welcome remembers your name straight away and goes the extra mile drinks poured before we ordered, top man. as does beky. The lovely waitress kelsey was amazing and always has a pleasant smile and great manner . Breakfast staff great also very friendly. One of them a little hyper but always put a smile on your face . Great stay cheers.
