Central to town amenities, and easy to locate.
We really enjoyed the variety of bars and eateries, super walking and races at Fakenham was great.
We found Guillemot Barn to be comfortable, clean, spacious and really well suited to our needs. Had everything we needed to make our week run smoothly. Highly recommended.
This is a lovely place for two people. Close to all the amenities of Wells but far enough away to be peaceful. The living room and kitchen is upstairs so you get the benefit of the view during the day, the bedroom is downstairs so it is cool on a warm night. The shower room is a nice size and the shower is very good. We had to put the heating on once but not for long, the rooms warmed up very quickly. There is everything you need in the kitchen including a dishwasher. It's worth familiarising yourself with the parking place on Google street view before you leave, it makes it really easy to find when you arrive.
I have stayed in Wells on many occasions. I have stayed in the hotels, various other B&B's and self catering. Out of all I found Guillemot Barn to be the most pleasurable. We booked the barn on recommendation from friends. On arrival we easily found the off main road parking (not easy to come by in Wells) right next to the barn. We didn't have too many bags, but even if you had a weeks worth being so close it was ideal. On entering we immediately felt the cozy, warmth of the barn which had a very welcoming feel. The layout is 'upside down' for good reason; with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs and the living space upstairs. The downstairs bedroom is perfectly sized for a couple. Leading from the bedroom is small outdoor garden with table and chairs, but it is plenty enough space for a drink in the morning/evening before going out, and it gave the bedroom a very open feeling. Upstairs you have the kitchen area, and from there you look through the living room out to the most beautiful views of the town and Wells harbour and marshes. The inside has been finished to a high standard. The self catering amenities cover everything you need for a long weekend/weeks holiday. We spent most of our time eating out as there is a good choice of nice restaurants, but we did cook breakfast! There is a very well thought through guide with everything you need to know about the local facilities/restaurants etc.The centre of town is minutes away, but being tucked away from the main street all you can hear are the birds. The beach is quite a walk, around 30mins, but no further than anywhere else in the town. Throughout the summer there is a little train that runs from the quay to the beach every 15 mins or so if you don't want to take the car or walk!
We will definitely be back, and would absolutely recommend this superb little hide away.
