“Good beach next to the town”

Wells Next The Sea Beach

Attraction details
Owner description: At low water, Wells beach has huge open views and mile upon mile of sands and shallow channels to enjoy. When the tide comes in, the beach is transformed into a harbour, with the entrance channel suddenly busy with visiting yachts, fishing boats setting out for the day or returning with their catch, local small boats going out to fish as well as clouds of small sailing boats racing or cruising within the harbour. The golden sands are backed by colourful beach huts which have been the subject of many a painting and postcard. The popular Beach Cafe nearby is perfect for refreshments during your visit.

“Good beach next to the town”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

It's not the most remote beach but it's worth a visit as a part of the visit to the town and in addition to a crabbing trip.

“Fantastic natural open beach”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Lovely open beach, great to lounge on or swim from in summer, and delightfully bracing in winter.

More organised than it was but not too controlled - has lifeguard up towards the water at lifeboat station end.

Great for dogs (Dog area) , kids and walking on miles of seemingly endless sand.

“Nice fishing village”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Not an awful lot to do, a few good shops, great coffee house. If you have little ones who love the park, head for the public toilets down by the quay and there's a play park to the rear.

“Just missing a little nightlife”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

I live within 25 miles and am a regular visitor.
Only real issue with the beach is you have to walk half-way to Lincolnshire to find the sea !!
Typical little seaside town with pubs, shops, cafes, etc a plenty, but not the most exciting place when the lights go out. The pubs are decent enough but for the younger generation, the entertainment is a little limited.
Loads of great walks and the place is very photogenic, a great place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
Seems to be going upmarket like many small coastal resorts in Norfolk, the standard of everything is definitely going up all the time. Must be the influx of them rich people from the South.
Parking can be a problem and can also be expensive. Having said that, where can you park cheaply at the coast ?
A superb day out for any age group.

“Beautiful beach!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We love Well-Next-The-Sea beach as it is never somewhere that gets too crowded, owing to the fact that when the tide goes out - boy does it go out! You'll have a good walk to find the water's edge and have a paddle and then come back for all your sunbathing and sandcastle building! It's a lovely walk along the sands to Holkham beach or go the opposite direction for some crabbing with the children. You can while away many an hour in the sunshine here but when the tide turns, it turns quickly!!!
