Wonderful facility. Great staff. Great location. Couldn't have been better!
Our family of six adults had a great time. Very comfortable, modern accommodations. Alan, the Manager is a great resource. Welcoming, friendly and efficient. Whatever you would like he will make happen. Alan did a great job of organizing all the activities we asked for - golf, distillery tour, fly fishing, bicycle rentals, Fringe tickets, dinner reservations, shooting, cars and drivers.
Breakfast prepared by Tony each morning (whenever requested) was terrific. We had two catered dinners at the Castle, using the caterers arranged by Alan. The food and service were all great. The dining room has a truly festive atmosphere that made staying in for the evenings a lot of fun.
Each bedroom is unique and comfortable. The views from the top floor extend to Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth. Bottles of Glenkinchie Scotch and Edinburgh Gin in each room are a very nice touch, as is the Famous Grouse in the library. The entertainment system, including sat. tv and blue ray library was perfect for a couple of evenings at home. North Berwick and its many golf courses and sea bird centre are very close. Edinburgh is about a 40 minute drive away.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- A unique Scottish Castle . . . Fenton Tower is a magnificent, fortified; 16th Century tower located 18 miles East of Edinburgh near the coastal town of North Berwick. The castle's location was originally chosen in the 11th Century because it afforded panoramic views in all directions and has had many distinguished visitors, among them being King James VI of Scotland (son of Mary Queen of Scots and Lord Darnley) who took refuge there as he fled from the rebel army in Fife across the Firth of Forth. The Tower has now been meticulously restored, and opened in 2002 to provide 5-star accommodation for up to 12 guests. Set amongst rolling countryside and surrounded by many of the worlds' most famous golf courses (Muirfield, Gullane & North Berwick) Fenton Tower is the perfect base for a magnificent golfing experience.
