“Fabulous - the high point of our short break in Edimburgh”
Reviewed 2 May 2011

We took a guided tour with Alasdair on the East coast near Edimburgh - the Beaches and Castles one day tour.
The route provided great scenery and landmarks of past and modern Scottish history.
Alasdair was the perfect guide, providing the background to the places with an insider point of view.
We had such a great time! Everything, from the great landscape to the beautiful villages and the Art Cafe where we had lunch is memorable.

“An amazing day with excellent service”
Reviewed 6 March 2011

Went on a self-guided tour at the weekend and absolutely loved it. Took out the tandem which was very fun and would recommend it to anyone! A great way to enjoy the beautiful countryside. Alasdair was really helpful and I really appreciated him opening on a Saturday for us before their season had started.

“Personal service + customized tour = great vacation!”
Reviewed 23 September 2010

Our 2 Wheel Tour was the perfect way to see Scotland! From our first contact with Alasdair through our final trip to the airport, we received excellent and attentive service with a personal, local touch that really enhanced our visit. We really appreciated the opportunity to cycle in 2 areas - Edinburgh itself and then East Lothian/North Berwick - and have all the details of bike fitting, bike transport, luggage transport, etc., taken care of. We also appreciated the fact that our tour was completely customized to our wishes. Each day we were offered a variety of routes, with different distances and a good explanation of what we would encounter. Although we were self-guided, we never felt abandoned. In fact, twice during our 5 cycling days Alasdair showed up along our route just as we were debating a critical turn.

The weather cooperated and in fact was perfect for biking - mid 60s with a mix of sun and clouds and the occasional short sprinkle. We cycled on bike paths and less-traveled roads. The terrain was undulating with only a few steepish hills that were well worth it to climb to what felt like the top of the world, with the Scottish seacoast, castles, "laws," farms, and villages spread out below. And then, of course, the lovely coast downhill!

Our 2 accommodations were very nice, not luxurious but very clean and adequate for US standards. We had a private bath in our B&B in North Berwick (not always the case, I understand) and enjoyed a full Scottish breakfast plus various cereals and fruits each day. The town of North Berwick is charming although shops close early each day (but most restaurants and all pubs remain open). Our hotel in Edinburgh was very centrally located, making it easy to venture out to wonderful restaurants and pubs each evening.

We are experienced cycle vacationers and have taken guided tours with some lovely (but high-priced) operators. Our 2 Wheel Tours trip met our high standards! The price was very reasonable, the service was first-class, and the trip itself was a pleasure from start to finish.

Thank Louise K
