The apartment is located in a perfect position being within 2 minutes walk of the West Links, the town centre shops & restaurants. Lovely apartment with beautifully appointed & spacious rooms. Ideal for couples or families, have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation
Our third visit to Marine Lodge and we had a wonderful stay as always. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Extra touches such as the "welcome pack" of basics, the Nespresso machine, and the wee dram waiting on the coffee table were much appreciated! Love the log burner too on chillier evenings. All the rooms are spacious, light and airy and are furnished beautifully. The two bathrooms have also been well fitted out, one of them being a good size wet room, and the other with a bath and overhead shower. The kitchen is well equipped with a large dining table. This faces onto the lovely little garden. North Berwick is a great location with beaches, golf courses, restaurants, bars and shops. For us, it's an ideal base while visiting family in Edinburgh. Andrew and Joanna are most accommodating and obviously take pride in their property. We are so pleased to have found it and hope to return soon.
We agree with all the comments left by other people about this lovely apartment but our story starts a little differently.
We set out to drive 400 miles to the Scottish Borders to another town and an apparently comfortable cottage. When we arrived the condition of the cottage was disgraceful and we rejected it immediately so where to stay next? We cannot praise Andrew enough, he pulled out all the stops to accommodate us at Marine Lodge giving up time he intended to stay there himself.
The property is truly wonderful and together with the welcome by the wonderful Gordon and the impeccable cleaning by Lyndsay and Zoe made our trip north to catch up with old friends in Scotland so comfortable. Although the apartment accepts dogs we found no trace to suggest dogs had been there so all credit to the cleaning.
Other visitors extoll the wonders of North Berwick and its convenience to Edinburgh and we would just add the recommendation that you pay a visit to the Lodge Grounds garden at the end of East Road opposite the Gelateria ice cream shop.
We shall be back.
Wednesday 26th July ... Max the Schnauzer walked through the front door of Marine Lodge North Berwick as if he owned the place. Mckenzie's mission .. was first dibs on the comfy beds in the second bedroom. Then onto checking out that the beautiful American fridge in the kitchen still provided him with on tap ice for his coca cola's - Sorry mum's but WE ARE ON HOLIDAY, rules are out the window! If you have not already gathered we have been before and will return again and again Andrew and Joanna willing!!!
I even took the husband who I think purposely left his chinos, to ensure a return visit. Gordon Thank you for returning them! I could write forever on the flat, beautifully clean, spacious, comfortable, has a great fridge, - according to Mckenzie mum we NEED one like that, for those who love coffee fill your boots, the kitchen is well stocked and houses a great coffee maker. Andrew and Joanna, thoughtfully provide you with a complimentary welcome pack. We discovered the endless choice of books and games on this visit, -thats if you have time, as the sun shone and we overdosed on the fresh air.
North Berwick continues to surprise me, apart from the obvious beach stuff, we went horse riding at Sea Breeze, the boys went to East Fortune air museum and discovered Concorde, I spent my husband's hard earned cash at Tantallon Gallery, we discovered the Lobster tanks in the Harbour - saving lobsters! We ate good food, visited The ship Inn, great home made fayre and a l much needed bloody Mary! - I learnt that the Edinburgh fringe spills over into North Berwick in August, last year it featured Katy Tunstall and Steve Harley from Cocky Rebel ... that reminds me I need to speak with Andrew.
Love, Love, Love this place and the fab people.
Thank you Andrew, Joanna, Gordon and not forgetting the lovely ladies that make Marine Lodge so clean and comfortable, for making every effort to ensure a fantastic family break ... see you soon K
This was our second stay at this large spacious apartment. Full of character and the beds are one of the most comfortable i have slept, This place has everything you need and feels like home from home, dvds, board games, wood burner, american style fridge freezer. The owners were very efficient at communicating prior to our visit and emailed over a comprehensive list of their personal recommendations for things to do, restaurants, trips etc for ourselves and our 5 year old son - all of which did not disappoint. The location is perfect and plenty to do without using a car. The beach, restaurants, bars, cafes, train station, golf course are all on the doorstep. Unfortunately we were only there for 5 days - we will definitely return but hope to stay longer next time.
Our second visit to this lovely holiday home - and it won't be our last. Everything is geared to ensuring guests have everything they could need, including a very comprehensive welcome pack. The property and its location are perfect for enjoying time in North Berwick.
