Glengair Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #10 of 26 North Berwick B&B and Inns
Reviewed 1 October 2013

While our selection of North Berwick as a launching place for Edinburgh was random, it could not have been more fortunate, as was our selection of the Glengair B&B. A lovely home with an exquisite garden, our room had a nice view of the quaint, even pristine town of North Berwick, with the wonderfully-named Firth of Forth as our backdrop.

The lodging itself, while clean, comfortable and well-appointed, was exceeded by our welcoming, friendly hosts Val and Charles, who not only created a perfect experience, but who also managed to have my wife and I feel that we were with old friends, even begging them to visit us in Colorado.

We would both absolutely love to repeat our stay, and hope to do so.

(PS: Val's suggestion of Osteria as a superb restaurant was spot on... one of the best meals we experienced anywhere in Britain).

Room Tip: Go for the upstairs room... the view is excellent.

Everything I was going to say has already been said in previous reviews so I can only confirm that it is definitely as good as it sounds. We were visiting North Berwick to attend a wedding in the Marine Hotel which is only about a 10-minute walk away - there was no problem booking in early which allowed us to change into our wedding gear at our leisure, the front door key was conveniently left in the room etc. etc., in fact everything was just perfect and the only downside was that we were only there for the one night. A definite recommend.

Glengair b & b is amazing! A charming house surrounded by a lovely garden just minutes walk from the beach. Also just a short walk from the station. Lovely bedrooms with very comfy beds. The whole interior is tastefully decorated with a homely feel about it. Fabulous breakfast. Owner very friendly and helpful. Full marks all round. Highly recommended.

my boyfriend and I stayed here on Saturday 15th June, as we were attending a wedding nearby. it takes about 10 minutes to walk there from north berwick train station. there's no sign on the gate to indicate it is a b&b so make sure you have the address handy! paid £85 for a double room for one night with breakfast and it was good value for money :) the bed was comfy, had a great nights sleep, and it was a fully modernised room with a powerful shower. shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were provided, as were tea and biscuits with a kettle, 2 bottles of water and a hairdryer.

there are 4 rooms, and it feels more like a house, Val is really helpful and friendly and let me borrow an iron for my wedding gear. she also gave us the number for a local cab company and advised us that we would need to book in advance. the garden and house are beautiful, the one thing i would say is you can hear people walking around upstairs and talking in the next room, but this wasn't really a problem for us though.

the cooked breakfast was the best i can remember having in a hotel or b&b anywhere in britain or abroad; the toast was made from nice seeded brown bread, and cereal and fruit were also laid out, along with orange juice and a choice of normal or decaff tea and coffee, which you don't always get!

I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in or around North Berwick :)

My wife and I, along with my cousin and her husband stayed at the Glengair as we were attending a wedding at North Berwick. It was excellent. Spotlessly clean and the hosts Val and Charle(and their daughter) were perfect and made our stay very pleasurable. Breakfast in the morning was first class. Excellent setting and wonderful garden and fish pond. Would definitely return in the future.
