Another fab time in N.Berwick. The flat is an ideal base and is comfortable and cosy. Have already booked for 2018 ! Can't wait to see the dolphins again !
This is a great location - the beach is on the doorstep and town centre within walking distance. Excellent for our purpose - everything you need for a self-catering holiday.
The flat is lovely and comfortable with amazing beachfront views. It’s in a great location, it’s only a short walk to the Main Street and also the seabird centre. We had a lovely stay, I’d highly recommend.
My elderly mother and myself booked a week at the beachfront ground floor flat in September. We found the flat to be lacking with regard the decor, especially in the bedrooms, they are very drab. The bedding is ancient and the furniture and fittings extremely dated, there are no curtains, only blinds. The dining table in the lounge had a plastic table cover that barely fitted the table and the windows were filthy. The main reason for us booking this apartment was for my mum to sit and admire the view from the flat but the only chair available to sit on were the basic dining chairs and they weren't in the least comfortable. The owner describes the new flooring as wooden ............ it's printed lino! The weather wasn't warm enough to sit out, but maybe that was just as well as the small area outside the kitchen was small and cramped with absolutely filthy plastic garden furniture. There was no pots or plants to brighten the area, very drab, dull and to be honest quite depressing to look at.
Three days before we were due to leave the heating packed in (the pressure had dropped) I telephoned my partner (who is a gas engineer) and he was going to talk me through the procedure to get the heating back on, however the boiler is above the fridge freezer in the corner at almost ceiling level and is fitted side-on, so it wasn't accessible for me to reach. As the owner lives in Glasgow and wasn't local to come and rectify the heating situation for us, we decided to take mum home the following evening. When I contacted the owner the day we left, to tell her about this, she said she couldn't understand why this had happened as she had checked the heating before we arrived and it was fine then! We haven't heard from her since .......
On the plus side, the kitchen has everything you would need to dine and the recliner sofas are very comfortable. The owner left us a few slices of home made fruit loaf for a cup of tea which was very nice and appreciated.
In my opinion, if the flat wasn't situated on the sea front, the owner would find it difficult to rent this property as it is greatly lacking in lots of areas and it's only saving grace is the view and the location to the town centre. My family have holidayed in dozens of houses and apartments on the east coast over the past 40 or so years, and I'm sorry to say this is the most run down accommodation we have ever booked and we were sorely disappointed.
My fiancé and I had a lovely weekend away here at the end of September. From the moment we arrived the house was warm & welcoming. Lorraine was very helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions about what was great to do & see in the area at this time of year. The house had everything needed for a comfortable and homely stay & the views across the road to the beach and sea are fabulous! We struggled having to prepare ourselves to leave this place! Looking forward to our next stay!
We returned to this flat for a second visit and booked our third on the way home! It is in the most perfect position just steps away from the beach and not many more to lovely walks and shops. It is a very comfortable flat with everything you could possibly need.Even in bad weather you have the best spot to watch the crashing waves from the comfort of your warm room.Lorraine is always so quick to respond when enquiring about dates and is so helpful, her husband had even left homemade Dundee cake on our most recent visit...delicious. Looking forward to being back again next year.
Only 30 mins to Edinburgh, so many places to explore locally, watching the gannets diving whilst enjoying breakfast was a highlight!
