Had a fantastic dinner for my son's birthday. Lovely room, great staff and best of all, the food was stunning. I had chicken with gammon sauce. So so good. My son had an excellent steak and was very happy! Really enjoyed the evening.

You always get a friendly welcome at this family run hotel. All of the food is locally sourced and fresh. There is something to suit everyone on the varied menu.
You can either eat in the dining room or the very relaxed Fly Half bar. They have a vast range of beers and lager on tap including Peroni.
There has been a great deal of investment in the bedrooms which although are comparable in price with a larger nearby hotels basic rooms they match the superior rooms in terms of quality and style.
We have used the Nether Abbey for a number of years and although we do not always stay there we always eat there whence in NB.

Headed here for a relaxed mid week lunch. Food was good, staff friendly, service excellent and place was clean and comfortable. Hard to beat. Must be one of the best in North Berwick, a little walk (really only 10 mins) from the town centre but just round the corner from the train station. A well run establishment.

The team at Nether Abbey has obviously put a lot of effort into sourcing quality food and drink. The smoked salmon and scrambled egg breakfast was simply the best I've tasted anywhere in Britain. My partner had a similar view of the full Scottish breakfast. Dinner was also impressive with a menu to cater for all, I had the volcano burger which was much more sophisticated than the comical name suggests. A special mention to the Romanian house white "Umbrele Sauvignon Blanc", outrageously cheap for the quality. The bar area reminded me of a standard budget hotel bar, there was no character or atmosphere although the beers on offer were of a particularly high standard.

I stayed here with my daughter for one night on Saturday, 15 February, just for a change. When we arrived we were offered tea/coffee (with choc) whilst we checked which was good. We had a twin room (could also be converted to a double) overlooking the hotel front. Nice room with windowseat. Bathroom with shower over bath, very clean and modern. We had booked dinner. A couple of different areas in hotel and there were a number of people in the bar which gave a good atmosphere. Lots of fresh flowers about the hotel. Huge vase of roses on reception desk. Also roses on each table and vases of daffodils too. Meal was lovely. Complimentary breads and oils and everything cooked to order. I had chicken breast with potato and leek with other veg. Vegetarian daughter had veggie burger and we shared cheese board. Service excellent. We didn't order anything from the kitchen for breakfast the next morning although what others had all looked good. Daughter just had toast with coffee and fruit juice but I had tea, toast, one weetabix (although there were two in packet) with prunes and a little fresh fruit salad , croissant and slice of cold meat. We were able to leave our case/bag at hotel for a couple of hours whilst we went to the Bird Centre before catching train.

Room Tip: We were in Room 4 which was made up as a twin for us but could also be made up as a double. Nice an...

My husband and I wanted to have a belated valentines meal in north Berwick and I stumbled on this resteraunt by luck via trip advisor. To our delight the eating area was fresh bright and intimate. As we were given menus we were given complementary breads and oil which was a lovely touch. The menu is excellent to the point we could not decide what to have.... I opted for the pigeon starter and my husband had the Salmon and prawn cocktail absolutely Delicious. Then for mains I had the lamb and he had the pigeon main. Every mouthful was stunning! We chose a pi not noir which was also great. Finished our meal with a very substantial cheese board to share. Great waiting service tentative but not intrusive. Will be back to try lobster!!

Room Tip: Did not stay at hotel

I have used this hotel many times over the past 5 years and have always found it to be very good. Staff are attentive and friendly. Rooms are very comfortable and warm and always clean. The food is excellent and if the warm scotch egg is on and menu its a must. following the great food a walk up the Law offers amazing views of the forth and North sea. I will be back in 2014.
