Visited here yesterday on a trip to North Berwick. After buying the tickets and heading in, I thought we wouldve been done in 5 minutes but I was definitely wrong!

There were many things to see and do here - there were various talks and cameras to look at the various islands. We were just in time for the puffin talk which focusses on Craigleith which was very interesting. There was also a talk about rock pools, talking about the various animals you find in the pools, using their tanks as examples.

The staff were absolutely fantastic. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and easy to talk to. This centre definitely wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without them.

I would definately recommend coming here between April-July as that is when the birds nest otherwise you really won't be able to see any birds of interest on any of the islands.

I can't understand some of the bad reviews of here. Why come here if your not into bird watching in some form of description especially with younger children who aren't remotely interested.

The only downside to the centre is the cafe is quite expensive. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in birds. I will definitely be back to go on one of the boat trips!

Hi there

Thanks so much for this fantastic review - I will certainly feedback your comments to the team.

While it is correct that the puffins are with us from April to end July/ start August, there is lots of wonderful wildlife throughout the seasons. The gannets return to the Bass Rock in February and remain with us until late October; during winter the seal pups can be seen on camera plus there are lots of winter waders to keep us entertained. In addition, we have an ongoing events programme with something for people of all ages.

We will look forward to seeing you on one of our boat trips soon!

Kind regards Laura

We visited the Seabird Centre last year and were very impressed. We also went on a 'seafari' to the Isle of May which I very much recommend, the variety of bird life we saw was amazing (so many puffins and cute nesting kittiwakes!). Both on the boat trip and in the Centre itself we were very impressed with the helpfulness and knowledge of the staff - you are certainly missing out if you don't ask questions! In all an excellent day out and it's great to know that our visit would help to look after the wonderful seabirds of Scotland.

A very pleasant and inviting environment, where you can browse in a shop , have a cup of coffee, a lunch and sit out on decking if the weather is nice. Views are superb and there are camera links to the islands to show the seabird colonies which include gannets and puffins. The only slight criticism was the coffee which could be a bit better.

We were there with our 18month old, and were really impressed with the range of activities included for young children. There was a small soft play section, a craft station, a drawing station, cuddly toy puppets and an area with sea themed books, jigsaws, etc. Made for a very enjoyable trip. Being able to go in and out as we pleased was brilliant as we had a lunch, and walk on the beach then went back to the centre again! Definitely recommend!

Well worth a visit if you are in the area. I did one of the boat trips with my elderly aunt who was more spoiled by the male staff than me! The guide was really informative and Bass Rock was an experience not to be missed.
