I came here with my four children for the day and really enjoyed the atmosphere and lovely location. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was lovely and helpful and my children (ages 3-11) genuinely enjoyed all aspects of the day. They loved looking at all the bird cams and they loved watching the fish being fed! I think this is a lovely family day out if you are looking for something educational and fun. I got no complaints from any of my children and for them to agree on anything is a minor miracle!

Live cameras were very interesting and the knowledgable staff gave excellent presentations. Good value for money as you could spend a lot of time there. The restaurant provided good quality food at very reasonable prices. If you are in the area it is a must visit.

So overpriced and over hyped, i cannot say this more hinwstly but this place is seriously a comete waste off time and money.
When you make a big point off fish feeding at certain points off the day and a 2 year old looking forward to it inly for a member off staff to come take the top of a dodgy old fish tank and drop some food in, not excactely exciting stuff.
Please please avoid and spend your money on a new toy for your kid or something.
Staff all look pretty bored and very unrespinsive as well.
COMPLETE WASTE OF A DAY OUT, AVOID

The Seabird Centre is quite a good nature center, and an excellent way to learn while having fun at the same time. Although primarily geared toward children and younger people, nevertheless we oldsters had quite a fine time as well. Allow about an hour to take everything in. This is an easy train ride from Edinburgh; North Berwick is a quaint town and worth taking a day to stroll about.

Visited the seabird discovery centre as a family of four. We enjoyed it and spent quite a while using the different cameras. It was probably a bit expensive for the time you can spend there as there isn't much else in the displays - but it was brilliant to see the puffins. Ideally I would have liked to book a boat trip but hadn't realised how far in advance these would be booked up - I would probably go back to do that. The location is good too because once you are finished the beaches at North Berwick are a few steps away. We visited the cafe which I would recommend as it was good quality, clean and had a varied menu. I would avoid weekends or bank holidays if you don't have young children because I imagine it gets very busy then with younger kids at the camera controls !

Hi there

Thanks for this four star review!

During the summer we have additional events in the Discovery Centre, so hopefully you had the chance to enjoy one of our interactive, live science shows. There are also talks, trails, books, puzzles and arts to keep the whole family entertained.

You correctly highlight that our boat trips are very popular and we recommend booking in advance wherever possible. You can do this on our website in advance.

We hope to see you at the Centre again.

Kind regards
Laura
