John & Louisa's home is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing break in North Berwick. The photos here don't do it justice. The ceiling's are so high and the rooms so large, that you feel like you are a Lillieputian in Gulliver's world. Coming from a rather modest city flat to this is heavenly. So much space to think and breath and move. If you like golf, as my partner does, this is a dream spot. I found it difficult to drag him away from the bay window which looked onto the 16th green. A pathway at the side of the house leads you straight onto the course and the beach beyond.
The faded wallpaper and original features are a delight. There was even an old wireless radio, which still picks up a few channels and had authentic radio static. Bathing every day felt like a Victorian indulgence and the tear drop toilet seat is a gem!
The kitchen is supplied with all you would need. Binoculars sit on the windowsill, within easy reach for some gannet spotting over breakfast.
The beds are very comfortable and the street is quiet, but with the added bonus of the lovely Marine hotel next door if you fancy splashing out at the spa or having a swim. They have a deal running through summer which gives a weeks access for about £20, which means if you do like a shower, you can nip over there instead.
I can't recommend it highly enough.
