“Good, tasty food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

A lovely charming pub, friendly greeting and they welcome dogs.
Good choice of food, average prices.
Arrived quickly and was hot. My husband prdered steak which was cooked perfectly, i ordered grilled salmon, again, cooked perfectly. My daughter ordered baked chicken which she said was very tasty and melted in the mouth.
The food was very tasty and we can't complain on the quality, but perhaps quantity, it was missing something , just to make the plates look a bit more fuller. But we would go back.

“Great for Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

Ate here today and have to say it's probably the best in town for Sunday Lunch. Tender meat, veg cooked just right (no soggy carrots here!) and perfect Yorkshire puds. We enjoyed attentive and friendly service and will definitely return.

“Save our ship!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

We had heard good reports and thought this would be an excellent place to take friends... as a thank you. Our experience was very average.
The place looked good on entry and well laid out. We were hopeful of a good meal.
We had main courses and desserts. Two of our party found their food was only just warm... I asked for mine to be returned to the kitchen. It came back hot, but had some bits missing so had to be topped up.
One member of staff who mainly looked after our table was friendly but had none of the table side training I'd have expected (e.g. reaching across the table in front of us; bringing food we had not even ordered) The other guy who served us seemed switched off and disinterested in serving us... he too brought us things we'd not ordered.
Two members of the party had fish. The fish was well cooked but the accompanying veggies were bland.... potato, fennel... very off white!
The desserts were the best bit. Three of us had rice pudding with fruit compote... tasty and very pleasant. The other member had chocolate cake which was good.... but not exceptional.

“Great staff and even better food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

Booked on-line following a recommendation from friends.
Great staff and great food.
Great mains only let down slightly by the limited desert menu.
Apart from this I could no fault it.
Would definitely recommend and would return.

“Appalling service and no food after 90 mins??!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

We were staying locally and decided to visit on the last night of our holiday in Wadebridge. Everything else about our time in Cornwall was fantastic and the plan was for a lovely meal to round off our holiday..........that was the plan anyway!

Arrived about 8pm and were advised by a rather abrupt and officious lady that there was a 30 minute wait for food and we could have a drink and peruse the menu while we waited. We had my 2 young children with us but 30 minutes didn't seem too bad. It was apparent quite quickly that the pub was understaffed and the barman under a lot of pressure serving waiting parties and the occupied tables.

We were advised to order quickly as a large party were arriving? and this may delay our food so decided to order and settle back with a drink or two. While we were sat there a couple ventured in and were immediately stopped by the 'rude lady' and told there were no seats and they'd have to wait in the bar! It was at this stage that we started to feel a bit unwelcome.

Anyway, the 30 minute wait became an hour and the first of our dishes arrived. Lukewarm Scampi and chips.......followed by nothing else for the remainder of our party. By this stage the kids were becoming a bit impatient. It transpired that this dish wasn't meant for our table so our food was still not on the way. 3 parties that arrived after us had by now been fed..........

90 minutes in and we decided enough was enough and asked to speak to the 'rude lady' who I assume was the boss/proprietor/landlady. She disappeared at this stage and our complaint was heard by the barman who I felt quite sorry for. To his credit he waived the bill for the drinks.

So we left hungry after an hour and a half. I'm sure this place serves some lovely food and is probably well run when it's quiet. My advice would be to avoid if busy and good luck getting past the 'rude lady'. The takeaway curry we had down the road was brilliant!!
