Description: The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). For anyone who is Coeliac, we have also added a Gluten Free Flapjack to our homemade products, which include Gluten Free Scones (of course), Gluten Free Lemon Drizzle Cake and Gluten Free Ginger Cake. We are stocking Gluten Free Bread, for sandwiches and Gluten Free Bread Rolls to compliment our Gluten Free homemade soups. We are 'Dog Friendly', welcoming well behaved pooches with a fresh bowl of water and biscuits. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so if you wish to drive to us, we suggest that you park in the farmer's car park and walk along the coast path, or park anywhere on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). The tea garden is situated behind the top row of houses. We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome! Please note that during October we are open from 11.00am to 3.00pm

Stopped here for some lunch whilst enjoying a walk along the coastal path. The food was very nice, all freshly prepared, and the friendly service was excellent.

“rest a while tea garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

After a day on the dog friendly beach at the beautiful hawkers cove, we walked up to the tea rooms for a cream tea, were we where taught the correct way to apply the jam and cream the Cornish way! They were great as was the tea also, we were greeted by two helpful ladies and relaxed in a lovely flowered garden with stunning views across the cove. If there was a negative it took us a while to find it from the beach, as we didn't see any signs and had to ask, but glad we did as we can now recommend giving it a look.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry that you had trouble finding us from the beach. I will try to rectify that with a couple more signs. I am glad that you now know the Cornish way, regarding the jam and cream on the scones. (In Devon they put the cream on first...... They don't know what they're doing up there!) Please call again during your next visit to Cornwall.

“Delightful stop on a walk with stunning views”

We walked from Trevone to Padstow and this was the perfect stop just over halfway, a cup of tea in the sun with a lovely view over the Camel Estuary.

“Worth the walk !”

Fabulous scones and view! If you are walking in the area make sure you visit-you won't be disappointed. Just be aware there is little in the way of shelter as this is an outdoor venue so be prepared.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I’m so glad that you enjoyed your visit to our tiny tea garden. We think that we have got the scones just right now after mixing and matching a few different recipes, to create our own. We know how lucky we are to live here and we are very pleased to be able to share the view with our customers. We do have a couple of large umbrellas which provide some shelter, as long as it's not too windy to use them, so we do try to open as often as we can despite the weather. If the weather is at all unsettled it is a good idea to phone ahead to check, before making a special trip. Please call again during your next visit to Cornwall.
