We loved our visit to Trevorrick. We had a warm welcome from Melanie who showed us around our very well equipped cottage, Curlew. It was clean, had everything in the kitchen you could need with plenty of toys and videos for the kids. My boys enjoyed feeding the ducks, chickens and pigs and handling the guinea pigs. The pool, toys and play frames were all great too.
For a half term break, Trevorrick was great value. The only thing i would change is that i'd rather pay an extra £20 for the week than posting £1 coins into a meter for the electric.
The location was amazing too for visiting Padstow (or Pad-Stein!) and if you're a surfer, you'll be spoilt for choice for beaches to visit. We had lessons at Watergate Bay but there's surf shacks to hire kit from at beaches all within a few miles. We'd recommend going to Crealys Adventure Park (2 miles away) and hiring bikes to do the Camel Trail.
We stayed at trevorrick farm cottages for a week and booked it because on the website it promised to provide just about everything we would need for our two very small children, thus meaning we would not have to pack up the enormous amount of stuff we normally would have to take.
The farm was in an idyllic situation with lovely facilities for the kids outside (as promised), such as great play areas, outdoor toys, farm animals . However, we found the inside of the cottage far from being toddler friendly. There were hardly any high surfaces on which we were able to put things out of reach, there were cleaning products in unlocked c upboards, easily accessible to exploring hands, sharp cornered coffee tables with (a heavy lamp on one) and the stairgate was in a position that enabled our crawler to get up one step and fall backwards onto the hard floor on more than one occasion. The high chair provided was old, the tray cracked and had no harness. Just as well we brought our own travel high chair just in case.
The wonderful assortment of toys promised proved to be a couple of boxes mainly consisting of duplo, which neither of my children have much interest in.
While the owners appeared friendly, there seemed to be so many rules and regulations and strict guidelines about our stay in the cottage, i would not feel comfortable to go there again. Every little thing seemed to be priced to a point where I felt i daren't move incase i got billed for something. While I understand that owners of these establishments have got to guard against abuse of their properties I felt this was a bit over the top.
Fantastic location in the country just outside Padstow. Cottages are immaculately clean and tidy. Ours had lots of room and as we were travelling with 2 small children it was great for us.
Lots of outdoor things for the children (beware of duck poo!), trampoline was great. (indoor toys by pool could do with a clean!) The swimming pool was nice and warm although only open from 10am to 6pm. We took a dog which we felt wasn't that welcome! The hosts were a bit over the top on the rules for the dog! There is a lot of other small rules to adhere to and it was making me a bit worried all week because there is a £25 if you don't leave the cottage 'as found!'. Overall, a great place, peace and quiet, and ok if you don't mind paying extra for towels and electricty!!! Beaches fairly nearby and camel trail is great for cycling.
