“The only choice for accommodation in Padstow”
Reviewed 20 April 2013

We have been fortunate enough to visit Padstow for the last few years, each year trying a different B&B from the top ten on Trip Advisor.

Well, that is until we stayed in the Puffin Suite at Althea Library. Since then we have stayed a further four times, each time being as just asvgood as the last.

Geoff and Jane make you feel so welcome and you feel genuinely sad to be leaving their wonderful company. Padstow is a wonderful place but they make the holiday truly special.

The accommodation is immaculate and tastefully furnished. The location is in the very best part of Padstow with the rarity of ample parking (a commodity in very, very short supply in Padstow). In addition, Geoff's breakfasts are the stuff of Cornish legend.

We have stayed in some of Europe's finest hotels but I would choose Althea Library above them all.

Choosing the right accommodation can make or break a holiday (we have horror stories). I can guarantee you will leave Althea Library well rested, with a full stomach and a smile on your face.

Room Tip: The Puffin Suite is more spacious and more like a home away from home, having a separate bedroom, li...

We had planned a five day trip to Cornwall with two days in Padstow, we chose to stay at The Althea Library after some research, we wanted a character home with comfort, we stayed in the yellow room which we loved. There was every possible thing you may need while away from home as well as a lot more for example bottled water, luxury chocolates, fluffy white bath robes (gorgeous) The choices for breakfast were amazing and what we chose was beautifully cooked and presented. We sat in the guest lounge on arrival and enjoyed the home made cakes and coffee that Jane made for us, very welcome and also very nice. The location is good too as it is very quiet but only a short walk to the harbour. Another thing we liked very much was that we were made to feel very welcome, we were there for two nights and really wish it had been longer, we can't wait to visit Cornwall again and will definitely stay there again :-)

We stayed in the Yellow Room for one night for a weekend visit to Padstow.

We had a very warm welcome with tea/coffee and homemade flapjacks, lovely.

The Yellow room being the smallest was more than adequate in size with a very spacious en-suite with soft towels and bathrobes.

Every detail you could think of was covered. A good selection of filter coffees, teas, hot chocolate, fridge with fresh milk, water and chocolates, wine glasses, corkscrew, torch, iron & board in wardrobe, the list goes on.

Breakfast was first class. The evening before you had to fill out your breakfast order from a very extensive list. Probably the best breakfast we've had in a B & B.

Overall a first class B & B and we would definitely stay here again.

We were getting rather stressed trying to find a B&B in padstow and stumbled, to our very good fortune, across this one. Jane was a wonderful host and made us feel welcome straight away. We were so lucky to have got the room too as it was pure chance that she had had a cancellation. The room was immaculate and the lights that come on in the bathroom when you step into the room along with the mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom that turned on by you wafting your hand next to them were very exciting ! But of course, the main thing is that the B&B was in a great location, the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We felt very spoilt to stay there as it was so luxurious. Thank you so much Geoff and Jane.....I'm still smiling when I think of the scrummy grenola treats ! Maria and Tony

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The location and parking made our stay so convenient. Fabulous breakfasts, comfy beds and a very warm welcome ensured we had a really relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Loved Padstow, even on a rainy Sunday, sitting in a cosy cafe enjoying the views with our complimentary newspaper from Anthea library seemed a pretty perfect break from a hectic life! As other reviewers mention it is the little extras provided by Jane and Geoff that make the place so special.

What a fabulous place to stay. My friend and I stayed in the yellow room for two nights. The B & B is beautiful and cosy. It is in a wonderful location with a short walk into the centre of Padstow. The breakfast is amazing. The amenities in the rooms are the best I have seen in a B & B. The hosts provide fresh milk each day in the fridge, bottled water along with the tea and coffee facilities. What makes this B & B stand out is the toiletries in the bathroom and the robes they provide. They have on site parking. I will definitely go back as Padstow is such a beautiful place. Thank you for making my Willow Foundation special weekend away so very memorable.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are stunning.
