A fantastic place to stay for my first visit to Cornwall - couldn't have hoped for better of a British B&B. Althea Library is in the perfect location - a short 5 minute walk in to town down the hill, close enough to the town but far enough in that it is out of the way of the throngs of visitors, plus you can actually park there which I imagine is quite unique as many places are within the one way system and parking would need to be in the public car parks - big bonus. I stayed in the Yellow Room with my mum, so we had twin beds (you had the choice in this room) and the room and bathroom had lots of lovely little touches - everything was very well considered with nice toiletries and amenities, wine glasses, a fridge, local chocolates and biscuits, etc. - the attention to detail was great. We got to choose our breakfast in advance from an extensive menu. We had such a nice breakfast the first day we had the same again the next day but there were lots of other things to try, even kippers, which is unusual these days! Great hosts - I will definitely stay here again and recommend to my friends. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Hidden away in the old part of Padstow is a little gem. The setting is beautiful, the welcome is the best, the rooms are large with comfy beds, lovely local toiletries from St Kitts, there's a small fridge, a good range of teas and good coffees, a cafetiere, everything is thought of. It is the most relaxing and warm environment. The breakfasts are cooked to order, home poached pears in vanilla are exquisite! Locally sourced ingredients, Aga griddled eggs. I dont really want to share all this, but if you want to enjoy the best of Padstow, try Althea Library, you will not be disappointed at all! We will be back, providing we can get in :)

Room Tip: Highly recommend the Yellow Room!

We stayed for a long weekend at Althea Library in the Puffin Suite and it really was flawless.

The room was fabulous and spacious. It had its own seating area where a delicious breakfast was served to us in the morning. There was a very broad selection on the breakfast menu and each morning it was cooked to perfection.

The room had everything we could possibly need. There was a big, modern bathroom and the bed was so comfortable it made it hard to leave it the morning!

It's in a lovely location on the top of the hill and within very easy walking distance of everywhere in Padstow village.

The owners were lovely and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back.

This is an excellent b&b, Jane and Geoff are very helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Everything you can think of is provided and more! Our room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent with a very good choice, however you did have to order it the evening before.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Yellow Room as we required a twin. It was very well furnished but rather small for...

This is the best B&B. We have been coming to Padstow every year for about 10 years now and the Althea Library was the best find. It sets the bar for all other B&B's. Jane and Geoff think of all the little extras and nothing is too much trouble - fresh milk and chocs in the fridge every day, great selection of teas, coffee and biscuits. Gorgeous toiletries and all those little things that you forget to pack. There is a ironing board and iron in every room. We stay in the Green Room and it is perfect, very airy, bright and clean. The breakfast selections are amazing and cooked fresh for you, you even get to pick what time you would like it..
It was my husbands birthday while we visited and when Jane found out, she decorated his car with balloons - great touch.
We wouldn't stay any where else in Padstow and always compare other B&B's we stay in to this high standard - a very hard act to follow

Room Tip: The Green Room is our favourite.

Can't praise too highly. Comfort, service and attention to detail superb. Wonderful welcome with tea and cake on arrival. The "yellow room" was immaculate in every way with those extra special touches like chocolates and fresh milk in the fridge every day! The breakfast menu was very extensive and everything was cooked to order. The property has car parking on site and is a 3-4 minute walk from the harbour and all that Padstow has to offer, including some fabulous restaurants and beaches. Can highly recommend Padstow and the Althea Libray B&B.
