The owners made you very welcome and the room we had (Green Room) was to a very high standard with every little thing you may need during your stay was thought of and in your room. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our stay was for 4 nights and we cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Would recommend this hotel to everyone and will certainly stay there again.

This was the second time I have stayed at Althea library. First time was last April (2013). Last year I stayed in the puffin suite which is the most expensive room, but well worth the extra cost as it has it's own lounge with sofa, TV, dining table and chairs (for 2). Breakfast is served in your own lounge. They also provided crockery and cutlery if you wanted to bring food back in the evening to eat in your lounge. The puffin suite also has a stunning bathroom with separate shower.

In July I stayed in the yellow room with my sister, so we had it as a twin room (it can also be a double room). It was smaller but still room enough for two and it was ensuite. Breakfast was served in the breakfast room which was shared with the occupants of the green room. Yellow and green room occupants also have use of the upstairs lounge.
In all rooms you chose your breakfast daily and have the option of a complimentary newspaper of your own choice.
It's 5 minutes walk from the harbour.
Importantly, our hosts Jane and Geoff are very welcoming and friendly.
I'm going back again in august 2014.

Had an amazing time during our first stay at Althea Library. Geoff and Jane were fantastic hosts, the rooms were spotless and the breakfasts were great. We stopped in the Green room which was lovely. Thank you Geoff and Jane for your hospitality. We will definitely be back.

This was our first stay at Althea Library and we had a wonderful experience! Jan and Geoff are friendly and welcoming hosts. The rooms are very clean and well equipped with lovely toiletries, a large selection of teas, coffees and biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge! The breakfast is excellent and choices include smoked salmon and scrambled egg, kippers and smoked haddock. Althea Library is a 5 minute walk from Padstow harbour and has it's own parking so a great choice if you are coming by car. This is an excellent bed and breakfast and we would definitely come back again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Green Room which had a lovely King Size bed.

We've stayed in Althea Library many times and are always delighted afresh to be there and to unwind in its lovely, welcoming atmosphere . I think I most look forward to the special pleasure of pretty rooms, the special "smell" of the place and the feeling that it has been there for ever.
There are always tiny improvements each visit, nothing that spoils the existing atmosphere, but that increases the pleasure. We LOVE it. Jane and Geoff are wonderful hosts.

Room Tip: All good. Green Room has a little more space.

Jane and Geoff were our gracious hosts for two days at Althea Library, a guest house that used to be the town library. It’s only a short walk into the heart of town, the marina and many restaurants. Padstow on the north coast of Cornwall is known for the gustatory delights of chef (and real estate investor) Rick Stein. Not having reservations, we were able to secure only counter seats at his Seafood restaurant where we watched with great interest the hustle and bustle of back scenes action. Our double Yellow Room with en-suite shower was clean and comfortable, and breakfasts superb. A mix-up on a wire transfer was promptly resolved. At BPS 75, this B&B is highly recommended.

Just returned from althea library twelve times we have been and its now like going home 90% of guests are repeat visitors .The reason being once you have been you cant wait to go again Jane and Geoff are the perfect hosts Geoff's breakfasts second to none with a varied choice and the spotless rooms contain lots of Jane's lovely touch's from toiletries to free bottles of water and chocolates. You can park your car and forget it just five minutes walk to the quayside ,paradise doesn't come any better than this.
Caroline & Doug.

Room Tip: Three rooms only all good The puffin suite being the largest this being reflected in the price.
