“Excellent Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Visited Padstow during a three day Cornwall mini-break. Parked for 4 hours to take in the sites around the town. What a lovely place.

Decided to eat before leaving. Swayed by the famous name we went to the Café as it opened at 5pm. Without a booking we were offered a table in the courtyard. What a great secluded spot.

We explained our parking issue with our wish to have 3 courses within the hour. Both the young ladies, who served us, were very knowledgeable about the menu and fast tracked our order so there were no delays between courses. They were very attentive and good humoured and we enjoyed an excellent meal.

I must comment on the sea bass. To get a whole fish on the bone, perfectly cooked, as part of a fixed price 3 course menu @ £23 is incredible value. Pleased to find that Big Names don't always mean Big Prices. Well Done Rick Stein's Cafe

“Informal posh nosh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014 via mobile

We both had the 3 courses for £23 which was very good value. Nice twist on traditional dishes. All freshly prepared. Wait staff were attentive and made you feel welcome. In fact they even fetched the recipe book out for a chap on the next table as he was so smitten with the sauce his muscles came in.
We would definitely recommend a visit. And hope to return when next in the area.

This was a cosy and friendly place. The service was exceptionally smiley and efficient, and the fixed menu was very good value.

“Informal setting, Formal dining prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Booked online directly. Arrived around 7pm and had choice of seats. The menu is varied and good and more wholesome and tasty food rather than 'master chef' food. However the prices weren't cheap.
Food was delicious apart from bones in my fish curry.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

“Celeb image draws crowd but disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Five of us had light lunches there with a soft drink each and the bill came to over £110. Prawn dish had only smallish two prawns and we gently pointed it out. One more prawn delivered. (As a PR exercise they could have easily smilingly delivered two instead of one and we'd have been impressed). We've eaten in cheaper plusher restaurants and paid less for better dishes. It cashes in on celeb image and so people queue and sit outside waiting to be called. Crowded and noisy atmosphere. Bit like "kings new clothes" where few actually say it's not best value but like to "brag" they went to cleb cafe..
All a bit OTT. Cafe manager girl was cheery and pleasant. But overall, sadly not to be recommended.
They must laugh all the way to the bank. Could do better. Not real value for money.
