Description: Opened by Rick Stein and Jill Stein in 1975, The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow is famous for establishing an international reputation for the very freshest fish and shellfish, often landed on our doorstep. Head chef, Stephane Delourme and his team create simple seafood dishes with classic flavours using Rick's recipes. We have a seafood bar right in the middle of the restaurant where you can watch chefs assembling platters of oysters, langoustines and sashimi. No reservations are required for the bar and you can order anything from the a la carte menu.

Our daughter gave us a voucher for The Seafood Restaurant as a Christmas present..she knows I’m a fan of Rick. We just had to spend a few days in beautiful Padstow! The highlight of the trip was a beautiful dinner. Can’t find fault in any way. The restaurant is lovely, service excellent and the food faultless.

I could only book a bar seating for my husband's birthday but it didn't hamper the experience at all. The seafood is absolutely the best and well presented. The staff was friendly and it was fun to watch the food prep at the bar. The birthday treat was a very nice touch; this was everything you would want in a special treat meal;. I came to Padstow to eat the food and I wasn't disappointed-just wish it didn't take 14 hours to get there or would be back for my birthday!

We are visiting from New Zealand. After following some of Rick's TV adventures, we had to give it a try whilst in Padstow. We had an early booking as they were almost full up. Service was great, food was excellent. There are a range of prices, you don't have to spend a fortune, but it can get expensive if you let it. You get the same treatment regardless of what you spend, so don't be intimidated by the celebrity reputation. Value for money was fine, you do get what you pay for. We had a great time, we won't be back in this part of the world for a while, so well worth it from our perspective.
Parking can be a problem, the adjacent public park is large, but usually full. I would advise you to use the Link Road car park. there is a pathway down the hill, to the center of town. It's only 5 minutes walk.
The whole fish Masala in banana leaf was excellent.

On arrival we waited about twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive. One of our party was then served the wrong main course and that this was what they had ordered. The sweets arrived one was missing and again was told that they hadn’t ordered. Dessert wines were served after the dessert. The service was not up to the standard you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre , it was slow and our waitress was hyper.
The food was underwhelming and overpriced and as the price is on a par with London you would expect some canapés and an amuse bouche.
Our complaints were at least dealt with adequately and a reduction was made to the bill.
A very disappointing occasion and not worth a seven hundred mile round trip
