Tucked away in a side street off the main High Street, Champers is a little gem, deservedly popular with locals and visitors alike. They offer a range of beautifully cooked, delicious, locally sourced (where possible) fayre, from soup, through snacks to full meals.
Charmingly, you can sit at a table in the shop itself, and watch the World go by as you enjoy your meal. There is an unhurried and pleasant air to the service, and the place feels intimate and charming. After finishing Lunch, I couldn't resist browsing the wide range of deli items on offer, and left with some locally made cheese which was wonderful, as I learned a little later :-) Prices seemed very reasonable for the choice and standard, but it is small, so may be wise to try to avoid absolute peak times. I will return often.

We have lived in the area for many years and frequently visit honiton and this week was our first visit to champers.
My mother and I took my little girl and we were delighted. This place oozes rustic charm and offers delicious home cooked, honest food at an honest prices as well as a deli with an array of interesting local produce.
Despite being small and us having a puschair and small nattering child, we were made to feel very welcome by both staff and fellow diners.
Well worth a visit we will be back!!

Tucked into a corner on Small Street. Lots of lovely locally produced Deli things to buy. They use the Sausages from Smallicombe Farm, where we stayed during our visit. Lovely fresh salads, cheeses and hams. Very popular and great service.

This is the town’s principal delicatessen with an excellent reputation but it also provides a few tables in the shop where a good range of hot and cold meals are served as well as cakes and pastries. It is situated in New Street (number 7) in the centre of the town. Parking in the High St nearby is usually available (1 hour). Public Car Parks are available nearby.

Good home cooking is the order of the day here and the staff offer a cheerful welcome to all their guests. An extensive range of hot and cold delicious lunches is available as is an excellent range of home cooked cakes and pastries.

Proprietors Joanna and David Burkey take a personal interest in ensuring the establishment always meets their customers high expectations.

‘Champers’ is popular with the locals, many making this their favourite lunch time stop. Everything is very reasonably and competitively priced and the well stocked delicatessen presents a wide range of interesting produce including speciality cheeses.

Well worth a visit.

Very personal service. the man who cooks your meal often takes the order. Very good bacon sandwiches and scrambled egg , with excellent coffee (but keep off the decaf, not so good). The club sandwiches are something else! You are very much eating in a shop, with others coming and going, so can be a bit draughty. Floor could also do with a sweep sometimes.
