I was pleasantly surprised to visit this Gallery, there was a very high class exhibition of a very unusual artist's work, plus a collection of paintings by Thelma Hulbert. There was in addition a group show of local artist's work to be auctioned for charity. The Space is beautifully laid out and lit and a pleasure to see.

It is no surprise that THG is beginning to attract the attention of major artists. Current visitors to the gallery are in for a treat! This is a stunning solo exhibition of work by Peter Randall-Page, an internationally acclaimed artist who is well known for his monumental stone sculptures such as "Seed" at the Eden Project, and "IIMW" sited on the Two Moors Way, the long distance path connecting Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. 'Drawings, Prints and Sculpture on a Domestic Scale' currently on at THG is a chance to view the artist's latest prints and drawings, as well as a collection of exquisitely modeled sculptures in stone, bronze, iron and silver. The artist's longstanding fascination with patterns of growth formation in nature gives his work a timeless quality, which inspires connections between geology, ancient artifacts and the symmetries found in many natural structures such as plant forms and river systems. This makes his work interesting and engaging for everyone, as well as chiming with much that is currently inspiring contemporary design in other fields. His love of drawing and the line is evident in both his 2D and 3D works, and flows throughout the show, connecting intricately carved lino cuts with delicate inkblot drawings and pod-like spiral sculptures. This is an important exhibition on a number of different levels - it provides a chance to present a much more intimate aspect of an established artist who is normally known for large outdoor works, as well as an opportunity to experience a coherent and consistent body of work expertly presented in one place. An exhibition like this is also an ideal place for collectors to acquire high quality limited edition prints and bronzes, as well as original maquettes and drawings by a leading artist. Prices start at £300. Do not miss the selection of sketchbooks and maquettes on show upstairs - a rare glimpse into the world of an internationally renowned artist who happens to be based here in the South West. Do not miss it !!!!

Thelma Hulbert's talented works displayed in her own home together with frequently changing themed exhibitions, often with local associations. Also workshops and activities, a shop (great for gifts) and refreshments. Always enjoyable visiting the house and its friendly, helpful staff.

I grew up in the Honiton area, but have been living and studying elsewhere for the last five years. Every time I visit home it is TOP of my to do list to take a visit to the gallery! The staff and volunteers are always so friendly, the environment is so warm and inspiring, the exhibitions are always great and I love the new addition of the brilliant shop - particularly now that it has been expanded into a room at the front of the gallery. I wanted to buy too much! I always feel welcomed and never feel unwelcome to repeat my views of each room of the gallery more times than I'm sure is normal! I love to see that local art is thriving and to see how the gallery is evolving!
When I was at Honiton Community College I had a flare for art, and used love coming along to the 'Masterpeices' art club for teenagers at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery. I'm sure that my involvement with the gallery helped me to successful apply to art college to study a degree in illustration. And I'm sure that it's still helping similar aspiring artists today!

Every time we are near Honiton we pop into the Thelma Hulbert. It is a great little gallery in a beautiful setting and they always have interesting exhibitions. A really nice size to be able to enjoy the works without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Thoroughly recommended.
